Films take years to make. they all start with a source of inspiration and include hundreds of
people. The idea stage starts with the inspiration - producer - director - writer - treatment
and finally the pitch.Idea
The next step is to take the idea and finalise the script ready for production. This meansinvolving sales, distribution and broadcast it also requires public investment and private
finance.Development
Finance
It is now down to the writer to deliver what the producer and financers want. this requires a
synopsis, draft ideas and revision, all coming together to create the final draft of the film.
Script
development
Now the script is written the producer decides how they want to film, and who they want to
star in the film. this means choosing a suitable cast and a detailed budget.Packaging
Next is the financing, this means the producer securing enough funding to ensure the film is
to the best standard possible. the market will be decided and investments will be made, all
too ensure the funding for the film is accuired.

With the financing secured, the full cast and crew are hired and the detailed preparations for
the shoot begins. this involves storyboarding, production design and planning for the special
effects for the film.

from the shoot. this means that the sounds and picture quality will be mastered and edited.
And the final mix and cut will be made and readied for the next stage.
Post-Production
While the film is still being completed and finalised, the prducer will be out selling it, this is
done through a distibutor. this is done through making film trailers, making deals and taking
the mvie to its target market.
Sales
As the film is in its final stages the distributors plan their strategy to market it. this means
reaching out to the audience and selling advertisement through the press and media
coverage.

office success equals financial success. this means film premieres and box office performance
which all come together to generate a revenue.
