Analyzing Results Film Magazine

Can you tell what genre my film magazine is? If so what genre is it?

All three results that I got back said that that the genre was clear and that it was horror genre. This helps me feel more confident in what I have produced as it means that my target audience are finding it clear to understand and also that the conventions that I have used can be understood and related to the horror genre. From this I now know that I do not need to change anything on my film magazine so the genre is easier to understand as it is already clear.

Do you think that the main image is strong enough for a front cover of a film

magazine? If yes, why?

All three of the results which I received back said that the image was strong enough to be on my front cover. They also said that it relates back to the genre of the film which also adds a scare factor and is eye catching in the sense that it makes you want to read inside. This is what I was trying to achieve when I took this picture and also when I was editing it so I am glad that the genre comes through in the picture and also that it grabs the audiences attention. I therefore do not need to make any changes to this image as it works well how it is now.

Do you think that the colour’s work well together?

The responses which I received back on my survey all said that they thought the colour’s worked well. Two of the reasons why said that it links back to the genre. This is good as I chose colour’s to represent the horror genre so I am glad that this came across within my target audience. I also chose to do the three colour rule so I am glad that my audience found that I did not need to use another colour. Therefore, I do not need to change any of the colour’s on my front cover as they work well how they are now.

Do you think the overall front cover is eye catching and makes you want to read inside? If yes, please state why

All of the results which I received back said that they found the overall front cover eye catching. This is good as it is the main thing that you want to achieve when you are producing your magazine. The reasons why were that the structure is simple so not too overpowering and crowded, which makes it easier to read and look at. Also how bright colour’s make it stand out and the fonts used attract the audience. From this I do not think that I need to change anything to try and grab the audiences attention, because from the results I have received back I seem to of been able to manage that.

Do you like the fonts which have been used on my front cover?

The fonts which I chose represent the horror genre for me and also a film magazine. However I was not sure whether my audience would understand this but from the feedback I received they all said that they liked it and that it was effective. I am glad that it is effective and brings a strong effect across but is easy to read and understand. They have also said that it relates back to the horror genre. From this I now feel more confident in what I tried to achieve and that people understand it. I do not think that I need to make any changes to the font now.

Are there any changes which you think I need to make to my front cover? If so

Two of the responses which I received back said that everything worked well and I needed to make no changes. However, one response spoke about separating the sub headings so it is clearer. I have tried this before though and found that by doing that it did not bring continuity to my magazine and that it did not work well together. So I have decided not to do this change to my magazine as I believe that it works fine how it is and that the structure is of what you would find on most film magazines. Also the other two responses found my structure was fine and worked well.
