FILM FESTIVAL RESEARCH

Film Festivals• To promote short film documentaries they are usually entered in film festivals, I’m going to research different film festivals that we could enter our short film into. This would not be to win awards, although that would be beneficial to our documentary but it would be to promote it and get the documentary out there to the audience.

Cannes Film Festival• Cannes festival is a large, well known festival in France where hundreds of producers and well known actors/actresses visit each year. It is a red carpet event where anyone famous or invited can visit to see the different documentaries as well as if they are featured in the short film they can find out what they may have won.• Cannes would be an amazing opportunity to promote our short film documentary but it is out of reach.

Tribeca Film Festival• Tribeca film festival is a huge red carpet event in New York where people from all over the world submit their work to see if they can make it to the big screen. Hundreds of short documentaries and films are submitted each year but only one is successful per category. People take years and years to film for it thus why it is so competitive. • Tribeca would be a great film festival to enter to promote our short film documentary, but it is out of reach.
