    Terms & Conditions

    Competition Overview

    The Ranch Hotels Thursdays OPEN MIC NIGHT will be run over 4 weeks from 27th

    Feb 2014.Heats will run every Thursday from 8pm until the 13thMarch. The Final will be held on the 20th

    March where the winners from each heat will compete for a $750 cash prize

    This contest is aimed at the more experienced of the amateur demographic of talent however is

    open to anyone who wishes to compete provided they have a competent skill set.

    The strength of the competitors will be assessed by judges appointed by the venue and each

    competitor will receive an average score out of a total of (50)points. The judges will assess thefollowing areas:

    Creativity and Originality (how interesting is your music? ) possible 25 points

    Performance Quality or X-Factor (how interesting are you?) possible 25 points

    Each patron attending each heat will be given a voting form to vote for their favourite act, these

    votes will be totalled and added to the corresponding competitors score (1 point per vote) this

    component of your score is important as each as the more you promote yourself the more votes you

    can gain!

    Each contestant will be given 20min on stage to play to the crowd, with 10min in between for

    changeover.

    Prizes to be won

    The WINNER of the competition will receive:

    $750 cash

    Another prize yet to be donated

    There will be other awards given away each week for particular strength such as the voicefor best

    vocal performance of the night or The Animalfor a particularly impressive percussion performance

    etc etc.

    Competitor Rules

    Duty of Disclosure

    All potential contestants are required to fill out the provided entry form before they will be

    permitted to compete. All fields of the entry form must be completed to the full extent and all

    information provided must be truthful and be supported if questioned.

    The venue management reserves all right to refuse entry to an applicant as well as eject and/or

    disqualify a contestant on whatever basis

    Allowed Equipment

    Acts competing are provided with the following equipment for all sets played:

    FOH speakers (PA) 4 CH mixer (should you require more you will need to provide another mixer of your own)

    2 x Vocal Mics

    Kick Drum Mic (if required)

    1 x Foldback wedge

    All competitors are expected to provide the following:

    Any instruments they wish to use

    All music required

    Any auxillary equipment i.e. tuners, spare guitar strings, any tools required to service theirinstruments should this be needed on the night.

    Any necessary cables required to operate the extra equipment as well as connect them to

    our rigs.

    Conduct and expected behaviour

    All competitors are expected to take this competition seriously, and behave in a professional manner

    such that would be expected of the venue, its management/staff and judges. The Ranch Hotel

    management understands the colloquial nature of the industry, however the following will NOT be

    tolerated and result in disqualification:

    Offensive or disrespectful behaviour towards or intimidation of other contestants, venue

    staff, venue patrons/customers or judges.

    Any conduct directly affecting the reputation of the venue or the HUMP brand

    Any action resulting in injury, or any damage to the venue or equipment

    Any action resulting in a breach of the venues liquor licence or RSA responsibilities

    Excessive swearing over the microphone or other undesirable behaviour whilst on stage

    Possession of any illegal materials or substances

    Any Illegal activity what soever

    Note: particularly severe breach of these conditions will result in further action beyond

    disqualification including, but not limited to, ejection from the venue, barring periods or legal action.

    Event Promotion

    All contestants are expected to assist the hotel with the promotion and marketing of the event. The

    venue contact will be Alex, who is responsible for all marketing and promotions. Contestants are

    expected to carry out her instructions/requests to the best of their capability.

    At a minimum, each contestant will be expected to:

    Click attending and share the event on their wall on the week of their heat

    Post the event artwork on their profile/page
