Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I hope you are able to enjoy this forced hiatus. As I follow the news, looking for indications of
what is to come, it is clear that we are well into uncharted waters. The fact is, no one knows
what’s next. We don’t know how long this will play out. We don’t know how best to respond
to COVID-19. We don’t know how the shutting down of most everything across the United
States will change our lives in the months and years ahead. I have heard this effort to slow the
spread of COVID-19 as the largest world-wide effort since World War II. While this hopefully
lasts months and not years, that claim seems hard to dispute.
God is at work in all of this. This is a foundational truth upon which you can stand firm. I am
afraid things are going to get more difficult before they get better. The tsunami wave of the
virus has not yet begun to crash on the shore of our community, but it is close. We must all
place our lives in the hands of Jesus, trust Him, and live for Him where we are. Take time for
prayer daily. Pray for yourselves and your families. Could there possibly be a better time to do
so?
Many of our parishioners fall solidly into the high risk category. If at all possible, stay
home. Do not go out. In Italy, peopled died in numbers that left the priests unable to say
funeral masses for all of the dead-there were simply too many. I say this not to frighten you but
to drive home the reality of what we will likely face here at some point. This disease spreads
fast and, in those take seriously ill, hits hard. It is not an exaggeration to say that lives can be
saved simply by remaining in your home. If you have needs, ask for help. Many of you have
friends and family to support you and run errands for you. If you do not and are in need, please
contact me or someone here at the parish and we will help you if at all possible. The parish
number is (701) 854-3473 and my number is (701) 471-2162.
You are all in my prayers every day. Please join me, Fr. Biju, Br. George, and the Sisters daily
for prayer. Go to the Sioux County Catholic Communities Facebook page to join us for daily
Live streaming of the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Rosary at 3:00PM, daily mass at 5:30PM
Mon-Sat, and Mass of the Lord’s Day on Sunday at 10:30AM.
God bless you. Be well.
Your brother in Christ,
Msgr. Chad Gion

All who are in need
of our prayers.
And all who have gone before us.

Fifth Sunday of Lent
•When Jesus heard about
the illness of His friend,
Lazarus, He responded.
“This illness is not to end in
death; rather it is for God’s
glory, that through it the
Son of God may be
glorified.” Every aspect of
our lives –our gifts as well
as our sufferings –can, if
surrendered to Christ, lead
to blessings for ourselves
and others.
•Stewardship Thought:
Given a choice between all
the riches and power in the
world and service to God,
Jesus chose service to His
Heavenly Father. In many
ways we are presented with
the same choice throughout
our lives. Which do you
choose?
•Does your husband have a
Will? If not, you as wife
and mother may be risking
a great loss of financial
security. Get his Will
prepared today and write
one for yourself.
Lunches for St. Bernard's students will still be
provided but the meals will no longer be delivered by
bus in coordination with the Grant School. Parents and
families please pick up your child's lunch at St,
Bernard's directly. We will also provide lunch meals
on Saturday and Sunday as well. Please come pick up
your child's lunch from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and on
Saturday and Sunday for as long as we are able to.
