SAINT LOUIS SCIENCE CENTER FIELD TRIP PACKAGE: KING TUT FOR 3RD GRADE AND UP AVAILABILITY: September 12 to December 13, 2017, TUESDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS ONLY! CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING KING TUT PROGRAM OPTIONS: Iron Package: $11 per person* 10am – 12:30pm - Private Education Program (10am), Mummies OMNIMAX ® Theater Film (11am) and Lunch (noon) Copper Package: $12 per person* 10am – 1pm (suggested for 6th grade and up) - Private Education Program (10am), Lunch (11am) and The Discovery of King Tut Exhibition (11:30am) Gold Package: $18 per person* 10am – 2pm (suggested for 6th grade and up) - Education Program (10am), Mummies Film (11am), Lunch (noon) and The Discovery of King Tut Exhibition (12:30pm) * PLEASE NOTE: ALL packages require a minimum of 15 paid participants and can serve a maximum of 50 participants. One free adult chaperone is required for every five students. Additional adults will be charged the program fee and the parking fee. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your program start time as programs begin promptly at 10am. Doors open at 9:30am. Field Trip schedules are subject to change in order to better coordinate program coordinates. Cancellation policy: Payment is required 10 days prior to your scheduled field trip. Cancellation after that time period will result in forfeiture of the full activity amount. SLSC may cancel the program with at least one-week prior notice, in which case SLSC will promptly refund the amount previously paid and your organization will be relieved of any payment obligation. SLSC shall however, in no event, be responsible for any loss incurred by your organization other than the program payments received. Program Components: Enjoy a Private King Tut Educational Program (approximately 1 hour) Lace up your boots and grab a trowel—we’re going on a dig! Students will learn about how archaeologists recreate ancient environments by looking at geological and environmental artifacts through hands-on lab activities. These activities will allow students to learn skills that real archaeologists need to uncover the mysteries of the past. Watch Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs in the OMNIMAX Theater (film runtime is 40 minutes) Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs in mind-blowing IMAX detail, unravel the enshrouded human time capsules that have become the most fascinating mystery of our time: Egypt’s mummies. Using archaeological discoveries and genetics data, researchers and explorers piece together clues from mummies to better understand the culture, religion, medicine and daily life of antiquity. Relics and bodies provide a window into the world of the pharaohs and — by reconstructing the DNA — scientists hope to better understand present-day genetics and to advance medical treatments. Explore The Discovery of King Tut Exhibition (approximately 90 minutes) In this exhibition, you will learn about the wider culture of ancient Egypt with fascinating insights into the Egyptians’ belief in the afterlife, and their efforts to overcome their fate and conquer death. A three-dimensional, astonishingly accurate recreation of the excavation site allows you to marvel at the exquisite, breathtaking burial treasure, ensuring that you leave The Discovery of King Tut exhilarated by having seen something very special, in an experience you’ll never forget. Lunch (30 minutes) Lunch may be purchased starting at $6 per student and $9.50 for adults, or you can bring your own. Bus parking is free – cars are $10 per vehicle, free parking for required chaperones.
