Ornithological Field Assistant We are seeking a voluntary field assistant to work on a Durham University PhD project exploring the breeding performance of Blue and Great Tits in nest boxes situated throughout the university woodlands. The volunteer will work with PhD student Claire Branston, under the supervision of Dr. Stephen Willis. Fieldwork will involve monitoring nest boxes to follow the fates of birds nesting in them throughout the breeding season, as well as undertaking vegetation and invertebrate surveys. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual, who is willing to work for extended periods in the field in all weathers, and preferably with previous fieldwork experience. The position provides a great opportunity to work on a varied project, developing valuable field skills and would suit someone with an interest in gaining biological research experience perhaps prior to post-graduate studies. As part of the position accommodation will be provided (self catered single room) within Hatfield College, Durham. The position will run from April until June 2017, and applicants need to be willing to join the project for this entire period. If you are interested in this role, or would like more information, please e-mail Claire Branston [email protected] before 20 th March 2017, including a short CV and detailing any previous relevant experience.
