Transcript of FHS Qualities
How do we grow our FHS students?
The root system of the sequoias
The Sequoia tree is one of the largest trees in the world. Perhaps even more interesting than their impressive size, is their unique root system. One would think that a tree of this magnitude would need huge roots that run very deep underground, allowing it to support itself. In truth, the root system of the Sequoia tree is very shallow, but, paradoxically, this is one of the secrets to this tree's success
Instead of expending its energy by growing deep roots to stand alone, the Sequoia's roots grow laterally in effort to interweave with the roots of fellow Sequoias. Sequoia trees are able to withstand the strain and pressures of wind and erosion because they reach out for support; they thrive by holding each other up.
