Operoting ond Sofery lnsfructions1. Be sure nachine frarne is electrically gror-u'rded.

2. Reyrpve or fasten loose articles of clothilg such as necktie, sleeves' coat and confine long hair.

3. Renove jewelry srrch as finger rings, watches and bracelets.

4. Use a safety face shield, goggles or glasses to protect eyes.

5. Keerr the floor arotnd the nachine clean and free from scraps, sawdust, oi1 or grease to ninimize thedan!1er of slipping.

6. Before starting the joilter:

a. Irlake sure the cutterhead guard is in place and operatable.

b. Clreck lrnives for sharpness; du1l blades can calr.se kickbacks and chatter.

c. Ir{ake sure lcnives are not broken and are securely locked in the cutterhead and are properly-- adjusted'Broken or loose ],nlves can be thror+n out of the nachine causing severe or fatal injury. Checkinstructions on lsrife installation and adjustrnent for the proper nptlrods.

d. Check for proper directlon of cutterhead rotation.

e. lutake sure fence is locked for tilt and location.

7. Stand to one side and out of lirle with the cutterhezrtl loives and nake sure any other person near themachine does the sane.

8. Use extra caution when workjng with thjn or short pieces. Take light cuts on1.y and hold then dor'nwith a push stick.

9. Check tjre depth of cut and resistance .to cutting for the first cut after each adjustment.

10. If leaving the machine area, turn ttre nachine off and wait tnrtil all rnoving parts stop before departing.

11. Give the work you?re doing, and the cutter, your r-mdivided dttention. Looking around, carrying on aconversation and "horse playt' are careless acts that can cause serious injury.

:.2. Irtake no adjustnents with the cutter rotating aad-disconnect the rnachine frorn its polrter source whenc5angfurg, idjusting or stoning blades or perforrning any naintenance.

15. Use only powermatic or factory authorized replacement parts and accessorles, otherwise the warrantyand guarantee afe nuLl and void.

14. Do not use this Powernatic jointer for other than its intended use. If used for other purposes'powermatic disclairns any reil or implied warranty :urd holds itself hannless for any injury that nayresult fron that use.
