Jack Pierce - The Man Behind The Monsters Legends of Screen Make-Up One of the cinematic pioneers & masters of make-up of the 20th century & the legendary monster-maker. This program details the life of Jack Pierce, the legendary monster-maker from Universal Studios classic horror period of 1928-1945. Pierce looks back on his life and work in cinema and his emergence as a premiere character makeup artist. We see Pierce’s work on The Man Who Laughs, Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, The Bride of Frankenstein, Son of Frankenstein and The Wolf Man through historical photos and footage and via live actors. This program re-creates 15 of Pierce’s characters with makeup wizard Robert Burman from Frankenstein’s Monster and Bride to the Im-Ho-Tep Mummy and the original Lon Chaney Jr. Wolf Man.
