    sPecIal tools:

    One s ecial tool is re uired for t e removal of t e 34091-85 inner rimarbearing race from t e transmission mains aft. Reference tool icturebelow.

    1. For Your saFetY, DIsconnect BotHBatterY Posts (FaIlure to Due socoulD result In Personal InJurY).

    2. Remove rimar drain lug located at t ebottom of your primary, drain uid and disposeof at our local rec cler.

    3. On some models it is necessar to removefoot pegs / oor boards in order to removet e outer rimar .

    4. Remove t e stoc outer rimar cover.

    5. Refer to our Factor Service Manual toremove our stoc clutc assembl andrelated rimar com onents using t e ro er safet recautions and tools.

    6. Remove t e stoc inner rimar ousinger t e Factor Service Manual. T e left side

    of t e transmission and engine s ould bevisible as s own in Figure 1. Note: Figure 1s ows a 2005 Softail t at as been convertedto Rig t Side Drive, but t e removal of t estoc rimar and installation of t e FunctionFormed primar is not affected b t is.

    7. Remove t e inner rimar bearing racefrom t e mains aft wit BAkER Tool B-56or t e harle e uivalent. Follow t e FactorService Manual for t is rocedure.

    FunctIon ForM PrIMarY:1. C ec t e engine to rimar O-ring,ma ing sure it is free of debris and in goodcondition. Re lace if needed.

    2. Install t e s lined starter was er and t e ac s aft s ring. See Figures 2 and 3.

    3. Install t e inner rimar wit t e included5/16-18 ShCS included. Refer to ex loded

    views for lengt s. A l a small amount of Red t read loc to t e end of t e t readson eac of t e 8 fasteners.

    4. Tor ue eac of t e fasteners to 220 IN/LBS. On t e 6 inner fasteners install a snaring (su lied) into t e counter-bored ole.T e sna ring serves as a secondar loc toensure t at a bolt does not bac out.

    5. Tor ue t e two 5/16-18 starter bolts tot eir factor s ecs.

    6. T e one iece ac s aft now needs to beinstalled. Ma e sure t e ac s aft s ring ands lined was er are still in lace. Lubricate

    t e ac s aft wit bearing grease. Insert t es aft into t e inner rimar .

    7. A l Blue t read loc to t e su lied1/4-20x1/2 ange bolt and torque it to 120IN/LBS.

    8. On 1990-93 versions, install t e 3/8i e lug wit blue t read loc er. On1994-2006 versions, install t e end lugwit sna ring.

    9. Slide t e 5/16 diameter dowel intot e c ain ad uster s oe and t en into t ecorres onding ole on t e inner rimar .See Figure 4.

    10. Install our clutc assembl , rimarc ain, and motor s roc et com onentsfollowing t e Factor Service Manual. SeeFigure 5.

    11. Install com ensating s roc et nut andclutc nut, using Red t read loc .

    12. Torque to Factory speci cations foundin our Factor Service Manual.

    13. Ad ust rimar c ain following ste slisted in our Factor Service Manual.

    14. Install t e Ad uster plate and sna ring. Ad ust t e clutc following ste s listed in

    our Factor Service Manual.

    15. Install outer rimar wit su liedgas ets and 1/4-20 fasteners using a cross

    attern. Starting wit t e 4 center Glorhole fasteners, tor ue fasteners in t ecross attern to 110 IN/LBS. See Figure 6.

    16. Fill rimar wit 10o -12o of oil t rougt e clutc ad ustment cover o ening. Fluidrecommendation can be found in our FactorService Manual or from our aftermar etclutc manufacturer.

    17.Install t e c ain ad ustment cover wit t esu lied #10-24 fasteners. C ec t at t e O-ring is in lace and free of debris. Be sure touse Blue t read loc on t e fasteners. SeeFigure 7.

    18. Install t e clutc ad ustment cover witt e ro er fasteners. See ex loded diagramin front of Installation Instructions for details.Tor ue to 110 IN/LBS. See Figure 8.
