Glossary:

A “Código” represents a thorough civil law codification of a certain issue area. The Spanish term “Ley” generally refers to an abstract legal norm issued by a parliament being comparable to an act. Administrative acts adopt different names according to the legal system of each state. A “Decreto” often represents a decree issued by a ministry on an

abstract level with external application. A “Resolución” and a “Circular” are likewise administrative norms of different legal quality according very much to the legal system concerned. They sometimes only apply internally.

An “Acuerdo” can most broadly be construed as an agreement.
