AK Background

• AK was established in 1991, currently staffed by:– 9 specialist plastic surgeons

– 4 cosmetic dermatologists

– 100 employees

• 2 centres in Stockholm– Main clinic runs like a private hospital with 6

operating theatres and 35 bed ward

– Walk-in clinic in Stureplan

AK Fellowship

• Unpaid in my case but accommodation and lunch allowance provided

• 1 bedroom apartment 2.5kms from the clinic

New Fellowship Planned

• From autumn this year, AK will formalise the fellowship into a 1 year program:– Salary of €1500/month– Apartment provided– Mon-Fri with no on-calls or weekends– Lunch allowance

• Requirements:– Completed PRS Training in applicants own country– CV/Interview

• 2010:

– 4500 operations performed under GA in 6 theatres

– 90% aesthetic procedures

– 10% reconstructive

• Majority being breast reconstruction eg DIEP, LD

• Occasional facial reanimation with free gracilis flap
