President’s Update
Firstly, welcome back to another golfing year at the Feilding Golf Club, we hope you have an enjoyable season
and every shot flies true and straight. Time to let you all know of where we are at with the upgrades going on
around the course.
Course Renovation
It’s a waiting game on the completion and the introduction of the new 18th Green in to play. As you will all
have seen the strike on the fairway and fringe with the grass seed was very successful, but with the Green
being built out of 300mm of straight sand it has been a struggle to keep the water up to it with maintenance
on the pump and computerised watering issues. This has meant that the Green has continually had to be
reseeded as we have noticed the patches.
We have been extremely lucky to have had Glen and Daniel especially here to do manual watering to get it to
where it currently is, your work after hours especially is greatly appreciated and we are all looking forward to
seeing the completion of this job. There is still no definite date as after waiting this amount of time we believe
it is best in the long run to wait and not damage it. There haven’t been any complaints about the amount of
birdies and eagles scored on the alternate 18th……
Keeping this in mind, there will be a tournament based around the opening of the Green and there will be a
raffle run shortly for the opportunity to be the first in a group of four players to play it so please watch this
space and buy a ticket, everyone has the same chance once you’re in. Please keep in mind anyone caught
playing on the area will face serious consequences until it has been given the all clear. We appreciate your
patience during this process.
Clubhouse Painting
We have now come to the end of the $30k funding for the external painting that was generously provided by
Pub Charity for the exterior painting of the Clubhouse. In accordance with what we previously decided we
have stopped work until we can find further funding or voluntary work to complete the road facing side.
It is estimated that we need a further $16k to complete this job, so we have a grant application pending for
this which we can hopefully secure and proceed and finish. The quality of work and finish are second to none
and much of this maintenance has been well overdue. Thanks to Craig Bismark as he has replaced the large
panels of glass with safety glass and again thanks to Duncan Webb for his on-going help in all things building
around the place, replacing timbers as required.
It is still a plan to replace much of the balcony balustrade with glass during the late summer as funds provide
so we’re not quite finished yet…..
We appreciate your enthusiasm and patience and thank you.
Trev Ward
Club President.

that as I’ve been your Editor for over 12 months now, it is great to get your feedback on the

I started 9 hole golf in the middle of 2001 whenI moved to Feilding after farming in the hills ofApiti. Up until then I had played bowls inKimbolton. I still play bowls over Summer. Both sport are very enjoyable and I find 9 Holegroup a great social side of the Club. I also playTwilight Golf on Wednesday evenings. In 2008, I managed to get my first ‘Hole in One’.
