    OVERVIEW

    The FEI Asian Eventing Championships25-28 July 2013

    The first FEI Asian Eventing Championships is to be held at the Thai Polo & EquestrianClub, Pattaya, Thailand between 25th and 28th October 2012.

    Governed by the Fdration Equestre Internationale (FEI), the organization thatestablishes the rules and regulations for the conduct of international equestrian events, theChampionships is the first ever FEI regional eventing championships to be held in Asiaregion and serves as another large regional event equivalent to the Asian Games.

    Among the worlds top riders, the up-and-coming Asian riders i.e. Nina Ligon (THA), AlexHua Tian (CHN) and Kenki Sato (JPN) are making themselves shine in various world-class

    competitions and praised by international media. Asia is now ready to step up to the worldand uplift the standard of Eventing in Asia.

    Organized by Thailand Equestrian Federation (TEF) and South East Asian EquestrianFederation (SEAEF), and the Thai Polo & Equestrian Club, FEI Asian EventingChampionships aims to put forward the continuous development of Eventing in Asia to riseto the top and benchmark with the American and European ones. The Championships willuse the same competition format as Asian Games and run every four years in betweeneach Asian games to ensure the sports development continues.

    Organized by Thailand Equestrian Federation (TEF), the South East Asian EquestrianFederation (SEAEF) and the Thai Polo & Equestrian Club.

    The Thailand Equestrian Federation (TEF) has developed equestrianism in Thailand since1976 organizing national and international events. TEF has developed local talent winningmedals at SEA Games, Asian Games and Olympic Games.

    South East Asian Equestrian Federation (SEAEF) was formed in 2008 and is representedby eight SEA nations - Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam,Cambodia and Myanmar.     COMPETITION

    WHAT IS EVENTING?

    Eventing could be termed an equestrian triathlon, the ultimate equestrian contestcombining the three disciplines of dressage, cross-country and show jumping.

    Eventing originated with the military. The purpose was to create a competition in whichofficers and horses could be tested for any challenges that could occur on or off duty. Italso provided a basis to compare training standards between the cavalries of differentcountries.

    Eventing includes individual and team competitions. Each competitor rides the same horseon separate and consecutive days.

    FAST FACTS

    - The FEI Asia Eventing Championship 2013 ( #AECH2013) is the first ever FEI RegionalEventing Championship held in Asia

    - Our motto "Asia is rising. Together we can make a history."

    - The event is the result of the cooperation of Thailand Equestrian Federation (TEF), SouthEast Asian Equestrian Federation (SEAEF) and Thai Polo & Equestrian Club.

    - FEI Asia Eventing Championship will use the same format as Asian Games and will runevery four years in between each Asian games to ensure the continuous development ofthe sports.

    - In AECH 2013, 19 athletes from 5 nations (HKG, INA, IND, JPN, THA) will be competingfor Team and Individual competitions.

    - 2012 marks the year of success when two Asian countries Japan and Thailand claimedtheir existences in the Eventing world by participating in Eventing Olympics against theworld's top riders.

    - During the 2012 Olympic qualification, Japanese riders secured the Team Qualifier slotfor Asia-Pacific nations against the Australians at the Fidelity Blenheim PalaceInternational Horse Trials (GBR).

    - Team Japan in Olympics includes Kenki Sato, Yoshiaki Oiwa, Toshiyuki Tanaka, TakayukiYumira, and Atsushi Negishi.

    - Thai rider Nina Lamsam Ligon qualified her first Olympic in 2012 with the ranking in theSecond place in Asia & Oceania region (FEI Regional Group VIII). She is the first femaleeventer from Asia ever compete in the Olympics and being the youngest rider competingat London 2012. Nina finished at the 41st out of 74 competitors.

    - Nina Lamsam Ligon won the FEI HSBC Rising Star award in 2011. The award was givento one under 21 years old rider worldwide and across all riding disciplines, for

    outstanding talent and commitment. She is # 38 on the FEI HSBC World ranking list (asof March 1st, 2012).- In 2013, there are 60 riders from 7 Nations in Asia compete internationally (Japan 14,

    VISIT PATTAYA
