Bottle FeedingClean all bottle related items must be put into

boiling water and air dried. Then you have to sterilise them in order to make sure there are no germs on them.

Make sure all: bottles, teats, retaining rings, and caps are done

To sterilise your baby's feeding equipment, you will need an electric steam steriliser, or a microwave steriliser, or you can use sterilising solution. You can also boil the bottles and teats in a covered pan for at least 10 minutes.

How do I make up formula milk?

To make up a bottle of powdered formula, follow the instructions on the packet carefully. Here's what you'll need to do:

1. Boil tap water and leave it to cool for no longer than half an hour.

2. Pour the exact amount of water into the bottle.3. Add the right number of scoops to the bottle with the

scoop provided, using a clean knife to level it off.4. Put on the teat and cover and give the bottle a good

shake until all the powder has dissolved.5. Test the temperature by tipping a little milk out of the

teat on to the inside of your wrist. It should feel just warm, not hot.

How can I encourage a toddler to be a good eater?

If you've had a tough mealtime, and food is all over the floor, try to keep calm. Offer a toddler nutritious foods whenever you can, but let him decide how much he will eat. If allowed to do so, a toddler will consume enough calories to meet his own needs.

Keep to regular meal and snack times, taking into account a toddler's daytime naps. Offer three regular meals and two or three small, nutritious snacks. Some good snacks are:

◦ fruit◦ cherry tomatoes and cubes of cheese◦ yoghurt with berries or fruit slices◦ a small sandwich◦ vegetable sticks or breadsticks with hummus◦ a fruit and milk smoothie◦ a pancake, scone, or bun with a cup of milk

What foods should I offer a toddler?

Each day, offer a variety of foods from the four main food groups:

Grain cereal, pasta, bread, rice, and couscous.

Fruit and vegetables.Foods high in iron and protein, such as

fresh, high-quality meat, fish, eggs, beans, and lentils.

Dairy products, such as cheese, milk, and yoghurt.

Are there any foods I should limit?

Try not to worry if he doesn't eat something from each of these food groups every day. As long as he's getting a good variety over the week, he'll be doing fine.

Give small amounts of the following: Foods high in fat and sugar, such as

cakes, oils, butter, and biscuits.Sweets and chocolates.Salty foods, such as crisps, ready-meals,

and takeaways.
