New Housing Projects Take
Shape….
For those taking a walk around the Green this
summer it would be difficult not to notice the
two replacement dwellings under construction.
Both Curaveer Cottage and Meadowcroft are to
be replaced with new modern dwellings.
With records dating back to 1882 Curaveer Cottage was originally two
dwellings Over the years the properties were re-modelled into one and in
the course of their development became the much loved and happy home
of the Lawton family for much of the last century.
Long time residents of the village Rob & Bev Howell purchased Curaveer
cottage late last year and set about plans to re-develop and modernise both
the property and surrounding gardens. There original plan was to re-model
and extend the cottage installing renewable energies, sustainable products
and incorporating “Lifetime Home” features. As work progressed it soon
became evident that the existing fabric and structure of the building was
unable to support the demands of these modern building requirements and
so it was decided to rebuild from new whilst retaining much of the original
plan and design.
The reconstruction of Meadowcroft is now well underway also, the new
timber frame is almost in place. Both new dwellings will be an asset to the
village and it will be interesting to see how the construction work
progresses over the next few months.
Our Village ... School Term Begins… Traffic
Problems Begin….
For many years now the traffic issues
outside the school during drop off and
collection times have been getting worse.
Numerous warnings have been provided
to motorists who persist in parking
illegally and dangerously around the
school entrance and adjoining roads.
Following discussions with Ysgol Derwen,
North Wales Police and the Community
Council a joint effort is being made this
term to reduce the amount of traffic
illegally parking. The attachment within
this newsletter provides details of
alternative parking arrangements to
ensure the safety of pupils and parents
alike.

Dog Fouling.
It has been brought to HKCC attention that yet again some dog owners are not
cleaning up after their pets and in some areas there is a considerable build up of
fouling with the footpath across the field from the end of Park Avenue to Lesters Lane
being an area of concern There are restrictions as to where dog poo bins can be
placed and we are currently looking into locations where new bins may be installed
without upsetting residents. Please make sure you take a bag with you on every walk
and clear up your dogs mess no matter where they may foul. Anyone that chooses to
not clean up after their dog in Flintshire can be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice
(FPN). The FPN charge for a ticket issued in Flintshire is £75 and they are issued as an
alternative to prosecution. Owners who bag the mess but then fail to put it into a bin,
or take it home with them (i.e throwing it into a hedge, or hanging it from trees /
gates) could face a maximum penalty of £2,500 for a littering offence.
Higher Kinnerton Cricket Club.
Since the last report we have had four fixtures and
have now completed this seasons league programme.
The first game was a home encounter with Chester
Taverners who scored 101/6 which we easily overcame with a score of 104/3
with Steve Brewer 28 not out and Terry Jukes with 37 the main scorers. The
next fixture at Connah's Quay was controversially called off by the home team
who deemed the pitch unplayable but it appeared to us that they were short
on players. The third match was a home fixture against the Bridge Inn. They
batted first and scored 132/7 with the excellent Rhys Jennings taking four
wickets for 19 runs in his four over spell, in reply we scored 134/3 with the
two opening batters Andy Spink 50 not out and Danny Wright 41 setting up
the win.
The final game was against the league champions elect Handbridge who
needed to beat us. We batted first and scored 122/3 and in reply they made
123/4 with seven balls to go and thus are the league champions. We finished
out first league season in 6th position in a league of nine teams. We have two
friendly game to play against Maeshafn CC and Carmel CC.

Higher Kinnerton Walking Group
The August out of village walk was from Northop, voted best kept village in Flintshire
2015 and to be fair it was not hard to see why. The walk which started in the village
car park took us through parkland and woodland and through to Sychdyn before
heading back across the fields and the golf course, a distance of 5.2 miles.
Unfortunately Northop doesn't have any tea rooms so we were all forced to go to
The Boot Inn and drink real ale.
The September walk will be along the Liverpool waterfront.
Photograph taken on last month's walk outside the Wepre Park Visitor Centre.
We walk every Thursday, for further info Rosalind on 660440, Brian on 07775
