How Do They Qualify?

-Current drilling member of the Army, Army NG or USAR

**Must complete one year of service following graduation

from AIT, BOLC or WOBC.

-Inactive NG = not eligible for TA while in the ING

What Do They Receive?

-16 SH/24 QH of TA-funded courses per fiscal year (FY)

-$250 SH/$165 QH TA-funding but no fees or books

**Pending TA policy change: Deployable + MLED = TA eligible

MRC 1 or 2, AIT (+) SSDL-1 completion, BOLC or WOBC

21SH/31QH for a certificate program

-130SH/195QH for an UG degree (Associates/Bachelors)

-39SH/58QH for a Graduate degree (Masters)

**Currently, you must have 10 years of service. Does not

apply if TA was not used for any portion of your UG degree

-No minimum # of credits required (1 class- ½ time - full time)

-TA can’t be used for a lower, lateral or professional degree

-TA must be approved BEFORE the class begins. (Request up

to 60 days before but at least 5 days prior)

-Passing Grades: Associates/Bachelors = A, B & C and Graduate

= A & B only

-TA cannot be used with CH1606 GI Bill for the same class(es)

Degree Plan & Course Planner

Students are required to obtain a degree plan/audit after

completing 6SH/9QH of tuition assistance funded courses

towards the current degree. Degree plan/audits must:

• Identify student and school’s name

• Degree level and program (Bachelors/Psychology)

• List all required courses for degree completion to

include course number, title & number of credits)

• Evaluation of transcripts (military and college) if

applicable

*If manually generated, include school officials signature

block validating the document. No validation required

for system generated DARs.

Concurrent Use of TA & GI Bill Programs

CH. 1606: Concurrent use allowed for the same term

just not same class(es).

CH 33: Concurrent use of TA & CH 33 is allowed. If

100% tier the SCO can certify enrollment for fees,

housing (if not Active Duty/AGR) & books only but it’s

applied against entitlement the same. CH33 amount

calculated after scholarships, TA & waivers are

factored in.

CH 30 & CH 35 (DEA): Concurrent use of TA & CH 30

is allowed* *Service member may apply for Top-Up if

Active Duty/AGR

State TA: Concurrent use of STA and Ch1606 allowed.

State TA is reduced by FTA and Pell Grant*

How Do They Qualify

-Current drilling member of the Oregon NG (both Army & Air)

-Must attend an Oregon public community college or university

-Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0

-Has not achieved a Bachelors Degree or higher degree

-Eligible immediately following any military BCT

-Not Flagged (Adverse Action)

-Must apply for FTA and FAFSA (proof will be required)

What Do They Receive?

-Resident tuition (less FTA or tuition only grants/scholarships)

-Up to 90 credits (QH) towards an Associate’s Degree

-Up to180 credits (QH) towards a Bachelor’s Degree

**Can be combined with Ch1606 for the same class(es)

Joint transcript includes all components except Air Force

Recommended credits can transfer towards college credits

Can save the student time and money

Student can print their unofficial transcript from website

Student can request their official transcript sent directly

to a school(s)
