February/March 2020 Presidential Musings Ape chauffeurs? Flying houses? Robot therapists? Nuclear vacuums? No Coffee and Tea? What do these all have in common? They are all crazy predictions about the year 2020 that didn’t come true! Want to hear a prediction for 2020 that will come true? Keystone Region PCA is going to have a great year filled with cars, friends, and fun! Our annual holiday party in January got things kicked off in festive fashion, in the new Banquet Center at Mountain View which turned out to be a really nice venue. A few familiar faces could not be with us because of other engagements and were missed, but a nice time was had by all with delicious food, a well-stocked bar, good conversation, and some cool door prizes! The Board met in mid-February and we already have a great slate of events planned. We will kick off our Cars & Coffee series in traditional fashion at Restless Oaks in McElhattan, which is a great central location for our region. We will kick off our Dinner Out series at Blonde Bistro in Bellefonte, who have been great hosts for previous events. They will be moving this year to the new Axemann Brewery, and so this will be a little bit of a farewell to their current location. We have events planned into July, and we plan to regroup soon to plan out fun events for the remainder of the year. The PCA byline is “It’s not just the cars, it’s the people”. This is your club and we are only as good as we make it as members, so this is a call out to everyone in the club to help us make it the best we can! If you haven’t been to an event in a while, we would love to see you this year! If you want to help host or plan an event, fantastic! If you have ideas for the club, a fun event, or just have some questions, please reach out to me or the other Board members, we would love to hear from you! Here’s to a great 2020! - Rick, KRPCA President

2020 Keystone PCA Holiday Party Recap

We started 2020 as we start most years here in the Keystone Region, with our Post-Holiday Party!

The event was held at Mountain View Country Club and once again the staff did a wonderful job for us.

While the Food, Beverage and setting weregreat, the highlight of the evening is truly getting together with some great friends, and making some new ones as well. This is also our traditional transition of officers, where both Dan Crust (now Past President) and Rick Spangler (our new President) got to say a few words about the past year as we look forward to the new one. Our Zone 2 Rep Rose Ann Novotnak and her husband John were also able to join us and brought some PCA goodies to share!

Part of our annual tradition along with many door prizes is also the presentation of the three book Memorial set “Excellence was Expected” that was donated by Rita & John from Gemini. It is in remembrance of Robin Szczesny and given each year on loan to an outstanding member of the KRPCA. Last year’s recipient Gwen Cornell was not there to present them to the next recipient, but Dan delivered her speech as best he could. Congrats to Cherish Crust for being chosen this year, time to get reading!

Planning recapGreetings Keystoners! To kick off the 2020 season your Board met on Sunday February 16th to begin planning some events for this year. While many dates & times still need to be confirmed, we are happy that several events have already been penciled in for the next few months. Our goal is to try to have a couple of events each month in hopes that this gives everyone plenty of opportunity to attend as many as they would like. We realize that everyone has busy schedules, and by offering more events, we hope to have more options available for all.

One exciting event that we hope to grow bigger & better is the Bellefonte Cruise car show. For those of you that have attended this in the past, you know what an amazing car show it has become. Regrettably though over the past few years, the Keystone PCA has had only a limited showing...so we’re shooting to change that. The Bellefonte Cruise committee has graciously offered us an organized parking area & Porsche specific awards this year if we can guarantee 10+ cars. This should be a great opportunity to have the KRPCA well in attendance this year. So please mark your calendars for Saturday June 20th this year as we would love to end up with a record breaking attendance!

Needless to say this is only one of the many events we have planned, an outline of others are also in this newsletter.Special thanks again to Rick, Dan, Cherish, Randy & Taylor (Lorin and Penny too) for spending a few hours together to get our planned events off to a great start!--Mike Szeczesny KRPCA Treasurer

Let's have Another Dinner at the Blonde Bistro!Friday, March 6th, 2020 @ 6:30 pm135 S Allegheny StreetBellefonte, PA 16823

Once again, we are going to kick-off our dinner out series at The Blonde Bistro on Friday March 6th at 6:30pm. Those of you that have joined us here in the past know this is always a great venue - If you have not been here before, you are in for a treat at this quaint little Italian themed gem of a restaurant. Chef Ciara Semack and her staff always welcome our group & treat us like family. It clearly shows that she believes anyone can be successful in the kitchen; it just takes time, a smile, and lots of fun!

As a reminder the Blonde Bistro is a casual BYOB establishment, so feel free to bring your favorite wine or beer along for the evening. For additional information and enticement, look them up on-line at ciarasblondebistro.com for a sampling of their daily specials, which are always wonderful.

In order for me to better prepare them for the number attending, if possible, please RSVP me at [email protected] or call me at (814) 880-3788 by Wednesday March 4th - it would be most appreciated!

So, save the date - Friday March 6th - 6:30pm at The Blonde Bistro - for our first Keystone Region Porsche Club dinner of the season! Hope to see you there,

--Mike Szczesny, KRPCA Treasurer
