Barney Bentall, Tom Taylor and Shari Ulrich first played together in November 2007 at a songwriter concert on Bowen Island. Their continued collaboration grew from the undeniable enjoyment for both the artists and their audiences. One year later, they returned to Cates Hill Chapel and recorded “Live at Cates Hill”: an eclectic mix of the character, voices and songwriting talents of these three unique artists…or, as someone said, two Canadian legends and the number one draft pick!

With juggling all their respective projects it took until the summer of 2015 to embark on recording a second album. With Shari’s daughter Julia Graff and partner James Parrella engineering, they set up camp in Barney’s house with his two golden retrievers, Haddie and Tilly providing inspiration and wags at the appropriate moments. The teamwork was effortless and created an album of which all involved are exceedingly proud.

The trio was thrilled to have the highly regarded Canadian label Borealis Records, enthusiastic about the releasing the album, which is slated for a February 12th launch.

Logan McKillop is a folk/roots singer-songwriter and storyteller from Onanole, MB. Equally skilled as a wordsmith and an astonishing guitarist, every song is an invitation into the best of both worlds. He is unafraid to delve into what is real, exploring the highs and lows of the human condition with absolute honesty. Supported by his unmistakable guitar prowess, he leaves no audience without laughter, heartache, and a gentle reminder of life’s duality.

Logan’s sophomore album “Anchorless” (to be released in March, 2019) is a collection of songs that display his maturity as an artist. Carefully arranged with an all-star Manitoban roster of musicians, the 10 track album comes to life with the addition of a string section, piano, drums, bass, pedal steel, vibraphone, clarinet, banjo, mandolin, and a whole lot of harmony. Recorded with co-producer Scott Nolan (The Song Shop, Winnipeg, MB), engineers Jamie Sitar (Outta Town Sound) and Madeleine Roger (Roseberry Records) and meticulously mixed & mastered by David Travers-Smith (found.sound.toronto), “Anchorless” takes the listener through a heartfelt reminder of what it means to live.

Logan released his debut album “Prairie Sky” in March 2013. The album has received praise and radio play from a number of Canadian radio stations and has received positive reviews from notable folk music magazines.

Paul Black and Wynn Gogol are singer-songwriters who like to groove. This accomplished duo’s original songs and soaring solos invite you on a journey through soul and rock, to southern blues and back again.

Rolling like a freight train with no throttle control comes the blues sensation from Victoria, British Columbia, Paul Black. With captivating rhythms, dazzling lead guitars, and soulful vocal styles, Black is establishing himself as a true, straightforward, fearless blues rock and roller. If his energetic, throaty brand of music doesn’t have your head bobbing and singing along, almost nothing will.

Ever since laying his hands on a guitar at age 18, Black became captivated with the instrument, working tirelessly while learning how to effectively wield his new best friend. Growing up in a household filled with gospel and country tunes, and iconic groups like Led Zeppelin forbidden, the young guitarist was magnetically driven to rock and roll. After being given a ticket to Stevie Ray Vaughn by his cousin on a hot summer evening, Black’s life was changed, and he was entranced by the epic blues creations of artists such as Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, and Jimi Hendrix.

David Essig is a country blues master who tours around the world and is celebrated world-wide for his original songs and blues and slide guitar playing. Essig has recorded 20 albums of original songs, bluegrass and country blues.

Essig tours the world demonstrating his breathtaking technique on guitar, mandolin and kayagum, a 12-string Korean zither. He has also headed one of Canada’s first musician-owned and operated record labels, Woodshed Records. In addition to producing his own work, Essig’s Woodshed label has also recorded work by a long list of blues and folk stars including Willie P. Bennett, Cathy Fink, Duck Donald, Dixie Flyers, Fred J. Eaglesmith and Jackie Washington.

“I was born in Frederick, Maryland in 1945 and spent the early part of my life in the Washington, DC area where I became immersed in two intense musical traditions: bluegrass and country blues. I had the good fortune to work at the Arlington Music Company where I learned to play the guitar and mandolin from John Duffey, founding member of the Country Gentlemen and the Seldom Scene.

While I was absorbing the high, lonesome sound of bluegrass, I was also blessed to meet and learn from two of the masters of the Delta Blues tradition: Mississippi John Hurt and Neamiah Skip James. Well-grounded in those roots, I came to Canada in 1971 and have been here ever since – living for the past 28 years on the Gulf Islands in British Columbia

William Mimnaugh (stage name WiL) is a contemporary roots artist who makes his home on Vancouver Island, Canada. Known for his fiery live show, enigmatic stage presence and mad skill with an acoustic guitar, the 47 year old front man is also known for penning ‘Roam’ flagship anthem to Travel Alberta’s award winning international media campaign called ‘Remember to Breathe’.

Not one for school, his youth consisted of skateboarding and holing himself up in his room listening to everything from Chet Atkins to ACDC but It wasn’t until 1998, after hearing the flagrant use of an overdrive pedal on an acoustic guitar in Neutral Milk Hotels ‘In an Aeroplane over the Sea, an album and song that stunned his musical senses, that WiL really started refining and defining both his sound and his style.

It took nearly fifteen years, with a few failed attempts in the process for the artist to figure out how to take that sound that he managed to deliver live night after night and capture it on a record. The ‘seasoned’ songwriter is currently recording his seventh studio album, ‘Gold Mine’; a deeply personal record of self reflection, redemption and discovery at his home studio on Vancouver Island. The album is coming to fruition while working as an agricultural fencer (the kind that keeps bears out and cows and horses in) and performing the occasional show.

The Great Plains, Saskia and Darrel are a couple of touring musical veterans. They have racked up a couple of decades, a couple of thou-sand concerts and a couple of million kilometers on the highways and byways of North America and Europe.

Saskia and Darrel have worked all of their adult lives as musical en-tertainers so the stage is as familiar to them as your living room is to you. In fact, one common review people give is that these two make a crowd feel like they’re right at home sitting around the fireplace swap-ping stories and making new friends.

While there is something to be said for the bright young talent spring-ing off the stage at American Idol, there’s also a lot to be said for expe-rienced veterans and here’s a fine pair of them.

They toured extensively with Gary Fjellgaard for years and were able to add Valdy to the mix from time to time. Notables like Daniel Powter, Darby Mills, Steve Dawson, Valdy, Gary Fjellgaard, Trent Freeman, Ken Hamm, Bill Hicks (Powder Blues), Nolan Murray (Tiller’s Folly) have guested on their recordings. They were awarded Folk, Roots Album in Holland, Artist, Album, and Songwriter of the year nominations, received Top 5 People’s choice awards, and have enjoyed many years airplay on the Top Indie folk, roots charts in Canada, the US and Europe

Luc and Aidan Wrigley are 14 year old French-Metis and Cree twins who began Fiddling and Jigging at the age of 3. The following year they won gold and silver medals in the Jigging and Fiddling contests at Festival du Voyageur.

By six, the twins along with their dad on guitar were busking at the Forks in Winnipeg where they would share new songs and delight fans with their incredible ability to sing and play fiddle. At age seven they began performing at Festival du Voyageur, an annual winter festival that celebrates the rich Metis and French Canadian culture of Manitoba. Since that time the boys have been performing at schools, markets, gala events and festivals. In March the brothers were featured along side Juno nominated Indian City in the finale at the Indspre Awards wich will be nationally broadcast on CBC and APTN in June 2018.

Between live performances and an active school life, the boys have also released two albums. Their debut album “Keep Calm and Fiddle On” released in 2015 featured covers of contemporary songs that were re-worked to include the unique fiddle sound of the boys. On June 24th, 2017 the band released their second album entitled “Juniper Woods”. In addition to some wonderful covers by artists like Canadian music icons Louden Wainwright III and The Duhks , this album showcases their expanding musical repertoire through several original songs and music written by Luc and Aidan.

Fever Jazz blends soul and pop influences in English, French and Spanish. Destined for world stages this project is intimate and offers a sultry view through the looking glass combining rich language and world music flavour.

Featuring Nanaimo natives Narissa Young on vocals, Scott Arkell on piano and Gavin Reekie on bass. Be prepared for melody, moments and fun as they collaborate, bringing many years of combined musical and performance experience for your enjoyment.
