Valentine’s Day at WVCA Preschool
Valentine’s Day is an opportunity for the teachers to share content
about love, family, and friendships. Play comes naturally to children,
but in group settings, they are developing skills that will impact
them for a lifetime. Empathy, cooperation, turn taking, patience,
and so many more critical skills at work through friendships.
The single best childhood predictor of adult social adaptation
is not school grades or classroom behavior, but rather, how well a child
gets along with other children.– Dr. Willard Hartup Edd
Classrooms will be celebrating uniquely in each room. Please make sure to watch
for emails and notes home from your classroom teachers for details. Activities
may include crafts, creative art, special songs, and valentine sharing.
Please make sure anything brought to school is store bought, and
individually wrapped.
Carnation Sale Benefiting Teacher Appreciation Week
WVCA Parent Teacher Fellowship is hosting a carnation sale. You can
purchase carnations for classroom friends
and teachers. All proceeds will go to the cost
of Teacher Appreciation Week.
We are also looking for volunteers to help
prep the flowers for delivery in time for
Valentine’s Day. The PTF will be emailing a
virtual sign-up.
Be on the lookout for order forms and the
volunteer email.

Teaching Children to become Independent with Daily Routines
Our WVCA Preschoolers have been excellent helpers in the classrooms, and have responded with excitement
to each classroom’s Daily Job Chart. Preschoolers in general love to help, and feel independent. Allowing them
to start to be an active responsible participant in the class-
room and at home is a great way to build confidence, while
preparing them for the future. It is also a great self-care sup-
port to parents by giving back some time that use to be con-
sumed by having to do tasks for your child that they can now
do on their own.
Check out the great article attached to your newsletter email
this month. It provides insight on how to teach your child to
start being independent, as well as lists age appropriate tasks
you can teach.
