The Joe Lowe Communicator of the Year award, sponsored by WaxWorks, was created by the Chamber to honor the long-time radio personality who support-ed the Chamber and community through his voice and passion for Owensboro. Kirkpatrick was chosen as the first recipi-ent of the award, and received it while serving the role he regularly plays for the Chamber – the emcee of events.

“Joe was such a friend of the Chamber – our smiling face at every Rooster Boost-er, a recruiter of members, and we wanted to make sure to not only recognize him, but recognize the man synonymous with the Chamber – Kirk Kirkpatrick, with this award,” said Amy Jackson, President and CEO of the Chamber. “Kirk has such

a passion for Owensboro and telling the story of all the great things hap-pening here…it made great sense to honor him with this.”

Other award winners of the night included:

2012 Chamber Director of the Year – Shirley Cecil, Republic Bank

2012 Chamber Ambassador of the Year – Minga Trogdlen, Inde-pendence Bank

2012 Chamber Young Professional of the Year, sponsored by BB&T – Laura Alexander, Owensboro Convention Cen-ter

been a part of the founding group of the Owensboro Businessmen’s Association in 1913 – the Mes-senger-Inquirer and Glenmore Distilleries.
