Update from the St. Patrick Church Steering CommitteeVision: To be a parish that guides, supports, and encourages its members on

a journey of ever-deepening discipleship, and creates a culture of witness.

Mission: Love God, Love Others, Make Disciples

St. Patrick Parish Steering Committee was developed to move our parish forward in Spiritual Growth and Outreach. We continue to meet to discuss how to direct and plan for future needs and how to utilize the strengths and gifts individual parish members feel called to offer our parish community. As we learned from John Rinaldo during our parish mission, the top three things that people are looking for in a religious experience are 1) Music, 2) a Welcoming Atmosphere, and 3) Good Homilies. He encouraged us to “get out of the upper room” and become a community of disciples, nourished by Scripture and the sacraments, for the purpose of evangelization.

St. Patrick continues to seek volunteers for our Music Ministry. Are you willing to share a musical talent (instrumental or vocal

accompanist) with our church?

The Steering Committee has established a Welcoming Committee to assure that St. Patrick has an atmosphere of welcome and hospitality. “It is the responsibility of the parish community and its leadership to ensure that the faith it teaches, preaches, and celebrates is alive and that it is a true sign, for all who come in contact with it, that this truly is the living Body of Christ.1” Some tangible efforts include ensuring that everyone had a place to sit at Christmas Masses and training greeters/ministers. Additional volunteers are needed to serve as greeters.

Are you willing to be a greeter before Mass?

We established a Faith Formation Committee to assist our parishioners with spiritual renewal. Throughout Advent, Greg Stratman led an group study program, A Stewart's Way. Seven small groups with a total of 60-70 people participated. The committee plans to offer additional opportunities for small group study and fellowship in the near future. We plan to offer opportuni-ties for the simple purpose of getting to know each other and building rela-tionships. It’s with these relationships that we achieve our mission to Love God, Love Others and Make Disciples. Discipleship begins with relation-ships. Are you interested in getting involved with a small group?

Lastly, we established a Communication Committee to help keep our mission and vision statements in the forefront of our parishioners minds, to keep everyone posted on the efforts of the Steering Committee, and to help move St. Patrick parish closer to our vision: To be a parish that guides, sup-ports, and encourages its members on a journey of ever-deepening disciple-ship, and creates a culture of witness.

How is your personal journey going and how can our parish help you?
