Harold is the Managing Director, originating from the Netherlands, with over 20 years experience in (project lifespan) management of landscaping and infrastruc-ture projects.
He holds International qualifications in Land and Water Management and Horticulture and has substan-tial European, Gulf and African experience. As a true generalist with a talent for analysing, “out of the box thinking”, creative and with a constant focus on sus-tainable development, he established a track record of implementing innovative and practical solutions during the translation from design to construction.
In 2005 Harold was awarded the Dutch Urban De-sign Award for Sustainable Development as a result of successfully implementing a range of sustainability aspects in a new urban development.

Patrick is one of the founding partners of the com-pany and is originating from the Netherlands where he managed his own landscape consultancy for six years. He has extensive experience in the landscape business covering most of the world.

Al Ain International Airport plays a vital role as the location for the UAE’s first aerospace cluster, Nibras Al Ain Aerospace Park. The 25 km² aerospace park will bring together world-class aerospace manufacturers and suppliers, research and knowledge institutions, and educational and scientific bodies.
NLME provided recommendations and guidelines for the concept and detailed masterplan design of all open spaces within the development and acted as PQP lead for the project and planning in compliance with local sustainability (Estidama) regulations.

Azerbaijan has been one of the earliest places on the planet where oil was found and easily available. During those days the lakes in the country have been used for dumping of oil sludge and this causes environmental catastrophes till this day.
By directive of the president of Azerbaijan, for a total of nine lakes NLME prepared master plans looking at the potential of each individual lake from environmental, economical and sustainable point of view.
Each lake master plan will be developed into detailed plans and the project has taken the attention of the World Bank for further development.

Legoland is a new theme park opened in Dubai in late 2016 as part of the Dubai Parks and Resorts Development featuring numerous themed rides and attractions all surrounded by large landscaped areas.
The design of the park was conducted by Forrec from Toronto (Canada).
During the design process NLME was engaged to provide local knowledge to tweak the design where necessary, and horticultural and design advice.
During the construction stage NLME was part of the Lead Consultants Team and performed on-site quality checks related to the landscape component to make sure the project was delivered on time and to the high standards expected.

The Dubai Opera is the centre of The Opera District within Downtown Dubai. The 2,000-seat performing arts centre is beautifully located next to Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain.
The landscape design surrounding the building is vast and extend, covering nearly 20,000m2.
The landscape was designed by EDSA from the USA and NLME was engaged by Mirage Leisure Development to be the local consultant and supervise the execution of the works.
One of the challenging parts of the project where the curvilinear paving works and the green roof and wall installed on the structure adjacent to the Opera House building.

The semi-automated container terminal of Khalifa port is the first of its kind in the region, the uniqueness and dynamics of the terminal is reflected in the landscaped area surrounding the terminal operations building.
NLME used the theme of dunes as base of the design, resembling on one hand the dynamics and on the other offering a place for leisure and relaxation.
As shaped by the wind, curved horizontal and vertical lines, at some parts highlighted with tailor made benches, meander next to the building and leading visitors to the main entrance.

Surrounded by the warm desert sands of Dubai, Arabian Ranches is a prestigious community, offering its inhabitants an exceptional living environment.
In on going efforts of Emaar with regards to sustainability and local heritage, NLME was appointed to take on board the challenge to transform the surrounding of the previous main entrance of the Arabian Ranches.
The design evolved in an educational community park consisting of three main themes that perfectly merge with each-other and offer a journey through different landscapes unique to the UAE and resemble the theme from desert to oasis.
In the community park residents can unwind and learn more about plant species and their usage that are both indigenous and cultivated but all adaptive to the climatic conditions of the UAE.

Belgrade Waterfront, a first-of-its-kind development for Serbia, will be an extension to the capital, and not an isolated district; a blend of distinct neighbourhood communities, open spaces designed to appeal to pedestrians, riverside walks, tranquil public spaces for residents and visitors.
NLME developed the Landscape Design for a mixed used development with residential towers, retail and F&B’s on ground floor with a large plaza linking everything together. The landscape concept consists of squared and linear lines and spaces. The target market for this development is for local families, elderly explorers, young professionals and foreign investors. The landscape provide relaxing areas, outdoor terraces for restaurants and a play area for kids.

NLME where contracted to design the landscape for a modern office tower development located in Dubai Internet City which will become the new Headquarters of Huawei.
The landscape features travertine stone, used in both cladding and mainfield paving. Accented by grey graninte coping and banding this material creates a contemporary yet timeless feel.
Other features include a large ‘Water Wall’ cascading down at the entrance of the building.
Atriums are located on different levels of the building where trees and seating areas provide welcome green spaces within the building.

Apart from the massive scale of the park the challenge lies with the sustainability and minimal available quantity of irrigation water.
