We have had a productive month and hope that is the makings of a good year.
We had eight of the staff to head off to Winston Salem for the yearly operationsmeeting. This meeting is beneficial for us to get one on one news about changes, orjust refreshour memory of the general infrastructure of our organization. Wereally had a good time meeting the new people. Our chapter also came away withthe Eastern Traveler Plaque and a hundred dollars, ($100), to start our new yearoff.
Lilly, Billy and I optedto go to O’Berry for the Leadership training seminar thispast week end. As always it was fun and informative. We always have fun at theclasses. Billy and I have gone thru all three classes and Lilly has one more to do.
We are starting two new programs in our chapter this month; both have to do withvisitation and wearing your colors. There will be a chance of prizes for you, and thechance to have your WOS registration paid. We have all the rules in thisnewsletter. I think we will have fun doing this.
We have some good rides planned and hope that most of you can attend. Don’tforget about the Chili Cook off. If you want to enter the cook off just bring yourchili and take a chance of winning $100-$50-$25. That is good enough odds for meto enter. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Come on out and have fun. We are allabout having lots of fun.
Have a great ride and don’t forget Deadwood

The Passport Program is geared to encourage the Members of GWRRA to ride theirmotorcycles more to GWRRA events, rallies, Chapter gatherings, etc.
The Passport books have 64 pages, with 4 spaces on each page, for Members to getstamps/initials for each place they visit. GWRRA is providing this special website forthis Program.
To capture those special travel moments, use this Passport when you go to GWRRAevents like Wing Ding, the Trikes & Bikes Rally, your Region or District rally, or a semi-nar or OCP, etc. At each event (at any GWRRA booth), the Chapter Director, DistrictDirector or Region Director will apply a special stamp or initials (one per event) to rec-ognize your attendance.
After completing the entire Passport, send it to the Home Office by July 31, 2012, fora chance to win a prize and have your name placed on this page. The winners will bechosen randomly from all entrants.
Paul Hildebrand, GWRRA's founder, states that •I am looking forward to seeing thisPassport Program bring riding and camaraderie back to the forefront of GWRRA!•

FROM THE ARCHIVES OF G WRRA RIDER EDUCATION
A few facts you should know before mounting your bike:
THE OTHER GUY IS STILL DEADLY–Cyclists will collide with cars morethan any other object. In half of the collision accidents, the driver of the othervehicle was judgedTo have made the primary error that caused the crash, and he failed to “perceive”themotorcyclist in 70 percent of the two-vehicle collisions.
MA KING SUDDEN STOPS–Going either faster or slower than nearby traffic—was a contribu tingfactor in 18 percent of the crashes.
DON’T LEAVE THE PROTECTIVE GEAR HOME OR WEA R ITCASUALLY!!!
YOUTH AND ENTHUSIASM–Riders between the ages of 18 and 25 years ofage crashed more than their fair share, while riders aged 41 to 55 crashed lessfrequently than the exposure data said they should.
RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF Y OU–The study found that 90 percent o f allthreats were in front of the riders who crashed as a result of them.
BEWARE THE CROSSROADS–Over half the accidents happened inintersections.
TRAINED FO R THIS?? Riders who took some sort of rider training were morelikely to try some sort of avo idance maneuver, such as breaking or swerving. Untrained riders were more likely to sit and crash without doing anything to preventit.
Ride aware; Dress for the slide, not the ride and participate in the Rider EducationProgram!!
