Hello SN HOG… what a COLD January. Our annual Hair of the HOG ride wasn’t too bad, but our breakfast ride less than a week later… burr. Even though most of us were dressed right and practiced a new part of our motto, “Be Pre-pared to Ride” it was frigid… OK… FREEZING. We started out at 36 degrees and it got down to 30 when we stopped for fuel and decided to stay and have breakfast. We want to ride, not have to ride, and it just wasn’t fun being that cold. We certainly appreciate everyone’s willingness to change the ride. Thank YOU to all our volunteers and participants for the Dealership’s Frosty Balls Poker Run! That too was a cold ride and we had a couple of fun events back at the store. If memory serves and you already know I suffer CRS (Can’t Remember Stuff {got ya}) Leslie Lambeth won sec-ond place in the snow ball toss. We had our first of many Meet n Eat at Buffalo Wild Wings, and I believe the 43 of us had a pretty good time J. While there, three other people spoke with a few of our members and are now going to join our Chapter… GREAT JOB!! Since we have to have time to get the newsletter out in a timely fashion, I cannot say much about our first Meet n Greet and Overnighter of 2007 in Yuma. But I will next month.

Director’s Saddle...cont.
Editor’s Note Hi, My name is Rita Hart and I’m going to attempt to be your Editor this year. Smed my hus-band and I joined the chapter in 2001. I rode a 2001 Sporster and now have a 2003 Low Rider. My latest accomplish-ment is my 100,000 mile patch. I have served you and the Chapter in the past as an Ambassador, Historian and presently am a Road Captain. I hope every member will have something they
would like to add to the newsletter this year. Please send your thoughts to [email protected] or call or catch me at the Gen-eral meeting, but please let me know what’s on your mind.
Rita’s Tip If you don’t have Road-side assistance you should check out www.road-america.com They have several plans and it’s worth having.
Time for a little business; we all know that WE DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL & RIDE ! When the ride is done, the bikes are locked up and we go to dinner. That is or could be a different story. Please recognize that people not at our events and viewing pic-tures on our website or in the newsletter have no idea of this. Therefore we will do our best not to show pictures of drinking alcohol. Another issue we’ve learned about; we need parental approval prior to pictures of children from our events being allowed in the newsletter or on the website. Sooo please DO NOT be offended if you forward a picture and it is not used. Now for some FUN business, here is the list of 2007 overnighters: San Diego February 17 – 19 (2 nights) Pismo Beach March 23 – 25 (2 nights) Carson City May 26 – 28 (2 nights) Sequoia June 9 – 11 (2 nights) Four Corners Sept 1 – 3 (2 nights) Big Bear Oct 6 & 7 Palm Springs Nov 3 & 4 Lake Havasu Dec 8 & 9 We hope this helps you to plan for and to attend any of our overnighters. We have a lot of fun and look forward to you joining us. Speaking of overnighters… our San Diego Hotel changed to the Good Night Inn by Sea World. After our Activities Team did such a good job in the search for a hotel with a big convention at the same time we are there, unfortunately we were forced to change hotels. Here is the information: Good Nite Inn Sea World; $60/night (619) 543-9944 3880 Greenwood Street San Diego, CA 92110 Congratulations and welcome our New Ambassador’s: Mike Alexander, Martin Esquibel, James Meuir, Wendy & Paul Smith. Also, congrats to the Lloyd Family, they have their picture on the cover of the January / February issue of Hog Tales. Did you see it?? Our Chapter is what ALL of us make it, we want you, your participation and your ideas… IT IS YOUR CHAPTER!! Ride Safe, Have Fun and Be Prepared to Ride,
Kevin

Friendly Reminder... Be sure to visit our online PHOTO GALLERY at http://snhoglv.com/gallery Photographs are such a great way to remember events in our lives. Our SNHOG Online Photo Gallery is also a great way to share the fun we have as a chapter with friends, family and anyone who is skeptical about joining our chapter. All you have to do is browse the gallery for a few minutes and anyone will quickly realize we ride and have fun all year round!
Although Kenn Wynn, Mark Mogavero and myself are the "photographers" for the chapter, we are obviously not the only ones who take pictures at our events. If you have photos you'd like to submit, please send them to [email protected] . Be sure to include the date and Event the photos were taken and any other description you'd like included. I'll also be happy to post your name crediting you with the photo's you've taken. Thanks so much, Donna *** Note: If you prefer not to have your photo on the website, request a photo be removed or photo infor-mation updated, please let me know I'll make the changes as soon as possible. You must mention the al-bum name and placement number of the photo in question.

Way to go
Our new Director Kevin Pachtinger welcomed everyone and had everyone greet their neighbor. Kevin then introduced the new Primary Officers and Board members. Kevin presented Past Director Jim Larson with his "Chrome Rope ", then intro-duced and presented ropes to new officers: Mark Mogavero: Photographer Michele Klimke: Assistant Activities Officer Wendy Smith: Ambassador Paul Smith Ambassador Martin Esquibel: Ambassador Mike Alexander: Ambassador James Meuir: Ambassador Kevin then introduced our new Lead Road Captain "JB" Jim Brown who introduced his assistant leads Jeff Lambeth and Todd Sterling and then the rest of the Road Captains for 2007. Kevin introduced Our Dealer Rep, Tom Phlen and he talked a little about the road conditions in and around town and how to safely navigate them. He then took a few questions from the membership on this same subject... Assistant Directors Karen Heriford and Rex Derby greeted the new members present who introduced themselves and were given a packet of Business cards for all the primary officers. The new Activities Officer Lana McDonagh then went over some of the upcoming rides and events. These are also avail-able on the web site and in the newsletter. Secretary/ Membership Officer Leslie Lambeth then reminded everyone to renew for 2007 and be sure to get a sticker on their Biker Reward card for this year as members will not be getting new cards. Kevin talked a little about Biker Rewards, the website, asked for any questions and then adjourned for cake and fellowship. Leslie Lambeth Secretary/Membership

AND THE WINNER IS: Jacquie Tozier
What a Great day 55 bikes, 58 miles, sunny skies and new friends. What more could you ask for. Oh Yeah...food. There was lots of that ….15 crock pots full of Chili. Every kind you can imagine. Hot dogs to go along with the chili and all the condiments to go along with both. If you missed this ride you missed a wonderful day. Thanks to all who attended and all who made it happen.
From the Road Captains... P A G E 7
Well it’s already February. Our first month of rides is over! The first ride of the year is al-ways our Hair of the Hog ride. We had 45 bikes and 57 members bravely
forging out after the previous night’s New Year festivities to en-joy what turned out to be a slightly cool but beautiful day. What a great way to start the year! The very next week we were scheduled to go to St, George but due to the cold weather we went south instead, which turned out to be just as cold. We all decided to stay at Stateline for breakfast till it warmed up a bit then road to Searchlight and home. Hopefully you had the chance to ride in the dealership’s Frosty Balls V, which is always a great run. By the time you receive this news-letter we will have had our first Meet & Eat, Meet and Greet and
one of our always-successful over-nighters to Yuma, Arizona. Hope-fully you had a chance to be part of one or all of these events. If not, we have numerous events planned this year for you to come out and ride your Harley, make new friends and have fun. In February we will have our first “two-night” overnighter of the year to San Diego, which is always a fun time. While in San Diego the Road Captains will have a planned ride. For those that don’t want to ride there is always the old trolley ride, (inside joke) but for sure there will be lots to do. Take a look at the calendar, find a ride you are interested in, come out and join us. In the January meeting I intro-duced your Road Captains for 2007. Please remember that on rides we are working. If at times it seems like we don’t mingle or we seem a little standoffish, please remember we are trying to focus on the ride. If we neglect to stop
and say “hi” to you please stop and say “hi” to us and of course if you have any questions just ask. If we don’t have an answer we will find it out for you. The “Be Prepared” for this month starts at home. Insure you get plenty of sleep the night before the ride. Hydrate yourself and dress for the weather of the day and al-ways carry rain and other gear that you might need in case of weather changes. IF YOU HAVE A PAS-SENGER ALWAYS REMEM-BER THEIR NEEDS ARE THE SAME AS YOURS. When you are packing your bike you should have a minimal tool kit, zip ties and maybe a Leatherman as these items can help you get back on the road if needed. See you on the next ride, Ride safe, be prepared and have fun Jim Brown (JB) Lead Road Captain

2007 ACTIVITIES OFFICER, AND ASSISTANT
As January rolled around and we, Michele, and I officially began work-ing on activities, it became obvious there was so much to do in so little time. How do you organize and keep straight all the wonderful rides, meet-ings, dinners, and other events, while working a full time job? With both of us on board, it should be smooth, we hope!
We have decided to jump in with both feet, knowing we may not make every-one happy, but also knowing we are going to do our best. We might make adjustments as needed, and hope you as members will be kind if we don't all ways get it right!
All the past members whom have been in this position, deserve so much credit for the behind the scenes planning. Like calling ahead to make sure we will be accommodated for the breakfast rides, making sure enough help and seating is available for the dinners, co-ordinating and finding rooms that will let us park our bikes and not care that 40 bikers are staying in their Mo-tels, and finding activities to do when we have overnight rides so we as a group can have a great time. Making sure there are volunteers for the poker runs, so we can get our cards punched and get back on the bikes in a timely manor, and so much more!
Michele, and I are going to do our best to make this year as pleasant and fun as it has been in the past, and we are look-ing forward to each event with anticipa-tion of doing a good or even great job.
If anyone would like to volunteer to be on a help committee, we wel-come your help, and look forward to getting to know all of you better!
This year as in the past ,promises to be fun. If you are new in the group, please come to one or all of the Meet-N-Eats, or Meet-N-Greets, and don't be shy, we would love to get to know all of you! The more you get involved the better and more com-fortable you feel in the Chapter!
Looking forward to the many events, and all the rides this year!

Really Important Business Directory Update You’ll find the latest copy for 2007 of our Business Directory in your Silver Eagle News envelope. We’d sure like to see more of you who have business or services advertise in the Silver Eagle News. It happens to be the least expensive way known to man to get your business information out to more than 1,000 folks each month!! (And when I say more, I really mean MORE!! If you look at the Business Directory, you’ll notice that it takes 10 to 12 ads to fill a page...so we would really like to see at least 10 to 12...or 20 to 24 more business cards to completely fill those pages!!) If you would like to advertise, the rates are as follows: $30 for 3 months (3 months is the minimum); $50 for 6 months; and $90 for 12 months. Call Clar (896-9431) to secure a spot, and send two busi-ness cards and a check to the Chapter PO Box listed on the back of this newsletter to Clar Larson’s attention.

As a Reminder... When you get around to sewing on your Chap-ter patches (see the back page of the Silver Ea-gle News for sizes and prices from the SN H.O.G. “Store”)...remember that all three patches (your central H.O.G. patch and SN Chapter and Las Vegas rockers SHOULD BE TOUCHING)...There’s a reason...it’s to distin-guish our patch from the “three-patch” (or 1% MCs)...and to abide by H.O.G. regulations for displaying your patch...wear it proudly...and correctly!!

February Birthdays
Remember All Rides Are Alcohol Free
Hello, my name is Susann Lutz. I joined this Chapter in 2002 and this is my third year volunteering as an Ambassador. As the first Ambassador to write an article for this new section of the newsletter I would like to define an “Ambassador”. As the name implies we are “official representatives” of the Chapter. As officers of the Chapter, we wear ropes (Blue) on the left side of our vests and patches (“Ambassador”) above our name tag. To volunteer as an Ambassador, all you have to do is complete an application and submit it to the Director. Primary Officers will re-view it and make a decision as to your appointment. However, you do have to wait for at least six months after becoming a member of the Chapter to fill out the application.
So, what does an Ambassador do for the Chapter? Well, one of our duties is to seek out new members and make them feel part of our family. Let’s face it, there is nothing worse than going to an event or on your first (or second or third) ride and not knowing anyone. So it is up to us to introduce ourselves to you, introduce you to other members, answer any questions that you might have and make you feel comfortable. I must admit that when I first became an Ambassador I was a little hesitant about going up and introducing myself to someone I
didn’t know. But after a couple of years of doing this and meeting so many wonderful people because of it, I now feel honored to do this job. So when you see me, or any of the other Ambassadors, please come up to us and say Hi. We are here for you.
Ambassador’s Corner
Sad News There are many of our wonderful members that have not renewed their membership for 2007. I want you to know that no matter when your na-tional membership is due your local membership is always due in January, so we hope you will visit Leslie and get your renewal in. Mid-February is when they remove those that have not renewed and you will miss out on our great website and many other benefits. Thanks, Kevin
