February The Love Month Is Here Again !

Brotherly Love Romantic Love Family LoveChristian Love I Love You I Love God

Jesus Loves Me I Love Him I Love JesusI Love My dog I Love my car I Love WhateverHow many different kinds of love are mentioned above?

Can you give a really good definition of love? Let us consider Pauls definition in I Corinthians 13.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and havenot LOVE, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have faith, so that I could remove

mountains, and have not LOVE, I am nothing.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I givemy body to be burned and have not LOVE, it profiteth me nothing.

LOVE suffereth long, and is kind; LOVE envieth not;vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up.

    Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own,is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things endureth allthings. LOVE never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, theyshall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there

be knowledge it shall vanish away.

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man,

I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass darkly; but then face to face: now I

know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

And now abideth faith, hope, LOVE,these three; but the greatest of these is LOVE .

I know what the scriptures say about agapao and phileo love the two kinds of love Jesus referred to when talking to Peter in the

gospel of John 21:15. But what I want to know is: what about good

ole everyday, down to earthCHRISTIAN love that we should

be sharing and showing the world all of the time.

Valentines Day or the LOVEday should be everyday in thelife of a Christian. If you aregoing to talk the talk thenwalk the walk!

From the Program Director He who suffers is done with sin.

(I Peter 4:1)As we struggle against the biting cold, thereis always a part of us that wishes not tostruggle any longer. Of course, if we were togive-in to that desire for rest we would soonexperience a hard fact of life: continual

effort is required to stay alive. And, formany, this continual effort is experienced assuffering. To illustrate this point, imaginelife to be like someone treading water; itmay seem like quite a bother, or even aburden, to continually tread water untilyou realize the alternative.

This same principle applies to our men inthe NewLife Discipleship and RecoveryProgram. Here we teach men that the key tolifes struggle is to learn to struggle well.Nothing can remove the struggles(suffering) of life. However, masteringcertain life skills makes struggling a littleeasier. In fact, the better we struggle theeasier life gets.

We see this principle clearly in sports. Themore one practices ones sport the easier itgets. Plus, if we get really good at it, weeven begin to enjoy it!

t the heart of struggling well is a sound relationship with Jesus Christ practicedwell enough to become enjoyable. There arefour reasons why suffering/struggles becomeeasier to bear when we know Jesus:

    1) We discover they are temporary;2) We discover they ultimately end well:3) We discover purpose behind them:4) We discover someone walking with usthrough them.

We have two men right now, David andDoug, who are moving into our final phase, that have learned to suffer well because of their personal relationships to Jesus Christ. Iwant to thank you all for helping us tointroduce Jesus Christ to the homeless of Anchorage.

Serving Him with your help,Pastor Aaron

Desk Your Special Invitation Don Bettis

Visitors are always welcome at the Anchorage Gospel Rescue Mission. But this is your Special Invitation to come on by for a visit and see what we do here at the Mission. Some new donors have beenadded to our family over the holidays and we would especially like for you to come by and let us meetyou personally. This will give us the opportunity to share with you the many ways that your financial

support is used to help the many people that come to us for help. And, while you are here you may findsome way you would like to volunteer some of your time to help us in this ministry of serving others. We will give you a tour of our facilities, show you what we do and how the Lord provides the things

that we need to shelter, feed and clothe so many people 365 days a year. You will even have theopportunity to talk to some of the fellows in our NewLife Recovery Program. Ask them whatever youlike. Find out why they are here and how the program is helping them. They may even share theirpersonal testimony with you. You can also meet the other staff, our Program Director and our Chaplain.

The Greatest of These is LOVE !

This world is filled with sorrowsThat captivate us all.

At any given moment, Anyone can fall.

By faith we break our daily bread With hope that God will bless.

We say our prayers and go to bed In seasons of distress.

We can endure most anything If only there is love.

For love restores our faith and hopeThat God still reigns above.

    Love gives us strength

When we are weak, And courage when afraid. Love celebrates our victories

And sacrifices made. Hope and faith go hand-inhand

Like fingers in a glove, But greater still is Gods great gift

    Of His unfailing love.

    To Love is

TO AWAKEN each morn and drink in thedawning of Gods new day, Rejoicing in it.

TO SPREAD wide our arms and say Yes!to the whole world.

TO LAUGH heartily when the sky is rainingtears and wrath, as we do in the golden glowof Gods sun.

TO LIVE fully each precious moment, Joyfully giving to others what God has sograciously given to us.

TO FIND the courage to go on living, To

extend a helping hand to others, When our own hearts are breaking.

TO SEE the face of Jesus even in the lowest of men, Knowing that he, too, is a child of God, loved by Him.

    PLEASE

    Let Love Live!
