Welcome in the name of Jesus Christ to Riverside! A man. A woman. The yielding to temptation. The fall of humanity from God’s original created perfection. This was how paradise was lost. Another man, whose lineage is traced back to the first woman, walks into the desert wilderness. His feet kick up the dust from which we all come and to which we all return. This man does not yield to temptation. He has been sent by God to fulfill God’s promise of the restoration. He is how paradise will be regained. Every year at Lent, we journey together with Jesus from wilderness to cross. Lent is the 40-day period prior to Easter which is reminiscent of Jesus’ 40 days in the wilderness and the Israelite’s 40 years’ of wandering in the wilderness. Join us on Wednesday nights during Lent (Feb. 17-Mar. 16, 6:00-8:00 p.m.) for family-style dinners and short-term Bible studies. On Maundy Thursday (Mar. 24, 7 p.m.) we will serve one another as Jesus served his disciples by washing feet and sharing bread and wine. On Good Friday (Mar. 25, noon-3 p.m.) the sanctuary will be open for prayer. Our Lenten journey prepares us to joyfully celebrate the hope and promise of Easter Resurrection. With you on the journey, Pastor Melanie

We welcome families to Riverside! For the children in worship, there are children’s bulletins, reading books, crayons and clipboards in the sanctuary near the double doors. Nursery is available for infants - 3 years. Children at 9:00am are invited to leave after the children’s message for age-appropriate lesson and activities. It’s not too late to sign up for the Lenten Series beginning this Wednesday, February 17th. Classes are offered for adults as well as children and a pre-series light supper will be served in Fellowship Hall each night at 6pm for a nominal fee. Find the sign up sheets at the Box Office in Fellowship Hall. What’s Your Game? Join us next Wednesday, February 17th in Knox Parlor at 1:00pm for games of all kinds. Beverages will be provided. Come and enjoy the fellowship! Worship Leaders Needed! We are looking for children who want to assist at the 9:00 am service with pouring water into the Baptismal font, lighting the candles, preparing the Communion table, etc. We also need Lay Readers for the 11:00am services to read the call to worship, scriptures, etc. Please contact the church office for more information or to sign up. Pew Patrollers and Handy Helpers Needed: Ever wonder how the pew racks are stuffed? Curious as to what your singing voice sounds like in an empty sanctuary? Do you have a knack for being tidy? Enjoy a little light duty outside work? To participate, please call the church office - we appreciate your help! Soup Season Sunday was a great success! The Stitchin’ Sisters’ sewing ministry raised $367 in donations. A great time was had by all, and we especially thank the Presbyterian Women who provided an assortment of yummy soups for us to enjoy. Upper Room devotionals for March & April are available in the Narthex for a suggested donation. Reserved and unreserved copies are available.
