Hello members and friends
Happy New Year! I hope that 2010 has started well for you all and will continue to find you safe and healthy.
The Association had a wonderful Christmas with the Dinner Dance, Children‘s Christ-mas Party and Christmas Sunday Lunch, thanks to everyone who assisted to make them such a success.
The newsletter has some photos of course but please vis it the website—www.aeawa.asn.au to see more.
As I come to the end of my term as President with the approaching AGM in
April, it is time for members to consider the continuity of the Association and who will be your new President.
You have a fantastically strong, enthusiastic and dedicated Manage-ment Committee, most of whom I hope will stand again for the coming year. Our Secretary, Treasurer and Vice President each have another year of their term to run so we can be assured of continuing support in those roles. PLEASE consider whether you, or another member you know might be interested in taking on the President‘s role, or serving on the Committee. I will not say that it is always an easy job, but the re-wards of friendship and achievement completely outweigh any ―bumpy‖ patches!
The AGM is also the time that we present 3 Awards that the Associa-tion makes. The Ida da Silva Award for the Arts, Andrew Clarke Award for Sport and the Ivan Richards Award for Community Service. All three people were long standing members and supporters of the Association and we take great pride in remembering them in this way each year.
This year is the first time we will be making the Ivan Richards Award and whereas the other 2 awards are applied for, Ivan‘s Award is for someone nominated by another person in recognition of that person‘s outstanding contribution to Community Service. So, if you know of a member who is deserving of this Award, don't hesitate to nominate them using the appropriate form included with this Newsletter.
I am looking forward to the 21st Anniversary Dinner Dance on 20th Feb, hope you have your tickets for what will be a great night.
Renewal of annual membership fees is now due, so don‘t forget to see Charles Reincastle at the February lunch to renew your membership, or post to us at PO Box 875, Cloverdale WA 6105. We will not be taking renewals or new memberships at the Anniversary Dance as our organ-isers will be too busy on the night. See you at the February lunch.

Children’s Christmas Party—Sunday December 6th 2009 This year the management committee decided to hold the annual Children‘s Christmas party separate to the Sunday Christmas Lunch. 38 excited children were entertained by the Twisted Balloon Lady, Face Painting, Gym Bus and the Shrek Bouncy Castle.
Afternoon tea of Subway rolls, cocktail sausages and fresh fruits were served on a very festively decorated table with crackers, helium balloons and a gift box for each child. There were ice cream, chips, and reindeer cup cakes beautifully made by Audrey Princi. Highlight of the after-noon was Santa‘s arrival on horse back bearing gifts for each child. The horse got equal share of attention with children petting and having their photos taken.
There are many dedicated members to thank for making the Children‘s Christmas Party 2009 a very relaxed and enjoyable event. Graeme Mitchell for stepping in, to be the main event for the afternoon. We were very surprised with his mode of transport! Margret Chowdhurie my support and adviser.
Judy Keok for coordinating the afternoon tea for the adults, assisted by Philo Noranha, Sue James, Joan Reincastle, Ann Jupp, Marian Mitchell and Gary Fernandez.. A grateful thanks to June Naughton, Lily Sta Maria and Dennis Keok who donated afternoon tea, and many members who made donations towards the hampers for the raffle. May and Robert Harding who organized the raffle over two Sundays, Phillip and Lee Tien for minding the drinks counter, Brian Green and Jacob Green supervising the Bouncy Castle, Heather Fitzgerald for organizing the beautiful Christmas tree. YOUTH INTERESTS
Hi everyone! We had our Remembrance Day Cricket Game after the November lunch on the 8
th
November 2009. Unfortunately we only had a small turnout of 9 children/youth and 8 adults. Regardless of the turnout, a very enjoyable afternoon was had by all who participated and the weather was perfect! Due to the small numbers and some young children participating, a round of good old fashioned Australian ‗backyard cricket‘ was played….. and the best part of the afternoon was seeing the kids have so much fun!!! There are more events being organised (see below) especially the big games day planned for after the March lunch. The success of these and other events depends on you. We hope and encourage you to give us more support! Please participate.
„Eurasian Games Day‟ – “Eurasianlympics”. To commence after the March lunch. A series of competitive games will be organised both outdoor and indoor. All members are welcome. Please form teams of 5 people among friends or family some of which MUST include younger members. Games likely to be played are ‗rounders‘, ‗chapteh‘, ‗hop scotch‘, ‗badminton‘ and soccer. Rules to follow. Please let me know your teams as soon as possible.
Talentime / Musical Soiree – Coming soon (Akan Datang). Calling for ex-pressions of interest. We want you, our members, especially our younger members to show off your musical/artistic talents. Prizes will be awarded to all participants with major prizes for top performers. New Youth Coordinator – Calling all younger members (or young at heart!) to step up and take the reins of the youth portfolio. If you are inter-ested please call me on 0402 113 987. Also, any assistance with the or-ganising of the above planned events will really be appreciated.
