JUNE 23, 2019 CORPUS CHRISTI

FROM THE PASTOR

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

May our Lord Jesus Christ in the Most Blessed Sacra-ment be praised, adored, and loved, with grateful affec-tion, at every moment, in all the tabernacles of the world even to the end of time! O Sacrament most holy! O Sacrament divine! All praise and all thanksgiving be every moment thine!

Today we celebrate the Great Feast of Corpus Christi. This Feast provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the great love poured out on us by Christ in the Eucharist. How blessed we are to have such a God Who loves us so very much. May we always be aware of this great gift as we adore Him in the most Blessed Sacrament.

Immediately following the 11:30 Mass this weekend we will have our annual Corpus Christi Procession. Please be part of it. If you have attended or will attend a different Mass, perhaps you might wait on the front lawn of the church for the procession to pass and then join in. The procession would be coming out of the church around 12:30.

Also, please plan to attend the parish picnic immediate-ly following the procession. It will be on the rectory grounds. If you don’t have a dish to share, no matter. Please come just the same. Come and meet some of your fellow parishioners. There will be games and fun for the children too.

On this Feast, let us pray for our children at our Corpus Christi Academy.

May God’s blessings be yours this Corpus Christi. Father Ireland

… is a lay association within the spiritual family of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest. Through membership in the Society of the Sacred Heart, lay faithful can participate in the spirituality of the Institute directed to expand the kingship of Our Blessed Lord in all realms of the Church and society under the patronage of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.

The spirituality of the Institute of Christ the King stems from the writings and example of Sts. Benedict, Thomas Aquinas and Francis de Sales. With these patron Saints, the members of the Society of the Sacred Heart strive to live a Catholic life in an ever-growing harmony between nature, grace, faith, and culture, totally faithful to the teachings of Holy Mother Church and to the See of Peter, with an emphasis on charity

toward God and our neighbor. Members of the society work to sustain the apostolic work of the Institute of Christ the King. They also live the spirituality of the Institute and can participate in spiritual retreats and gatherings of the Institute's family organized either locally or nationally by the chaplains of the Society of the Sacred Heart. Youth events and retreats in the spirit of the Institute are offered to the families engaged in the Society of the Sacred Heart. Friends and guests are welcome at the retreats of the Society.

At our parish we meet on the First Saturday of the month for Mass (celebrated in the Extraordinary Form) at 8:00 a.m., followed by rosary and devotion, a light breakfast, spiritual conference and Benediction. Please call Fr. Ireland for more information or view details on the Society’s website:

JUNE 23, 2019 CORPUS CHRISTI

… NEWS …

“Getting to Know You!” It comes with great joy that we are able to introduce our new principal of Corpus Christi Academy, Mr. Matthew Tabar. Mr. Tabar joins us with a total of 19 years’ experience in Catholic Education. He has spent the last 14 years at Lakewood Catholic Academy where he specialized in the initiation, implementation, and institutionalization of a rigorous curriculum based in writing across all academic disciplines.

Mr. Tabar has a background that includes the International Baccalaureate Program, Diocesan curriculum creation and development completed with Mr. Mitskavich, and collaborative efforts with area high schools and colleges to ensure the future success of all students at a high level. Similarly, Mr. Tabar works with both community and worldwide partners as a member of the Board of Directors for the Cleveland International Model United Nations and a founding member of the Junior Model United Nations Program sponsored by the Cleveland Council for World Affairs.

With the help of Fr. Klasinski, Fr. Ireland, Fr. Cosgrove, Fr. Winkel, and Mr. Mitskavich, Mr. Tabar has been at Corpus Christi Academy since late May, working hard to ensure a smooth transition. He has been tireless in his efforts to continue to foster and develop the strong Catholic faith foundation that has been established already at Corpus Christi Academy. In the same manner, Mr. Tabar has been collaborating with the office staff, the maintenance team, Pre-K, and the tech department this summer to ensure that the 2019-2020 school year will be the best year yet at Corpus Christi Academy.

… from our Principal ...

Congratulations to our 8th Grade Graduate Roman Di Novo! Roman received a $1500 Piunno-Scaravelli-DiCioccio Scholarship from the Italian Heritage Club of Benedictine High School. Great job Roman!

Is Your Student Interested in Fall Sports??

If your child would like to play fall sports, please register him/her at either the Sacred Heart or St. Clare parish website: Select Athletics Tab, then Registration.

Sports available this fall are cross country for grades 3-8, football for grades 1-8 and volleyball for grades 4-8. Football will be combined with St. Francis and St. Paschal. Registration deadline is the end of June as practices can begin as early as July 26th. Forms and fees are due by July 26th.

If your athlete's physical will expire this summer or during the fall season(13 months since previous physical), schedule the appointment now. Your athlete cannot practice or play in any games until it is current. The forms are also on either parish website: Select Athletics Tab, then CY O Athletic Forms. Make sure that your doctor signs AND dates the physical form.

Kuster baseball field at Corpus Christi Academy is hosting games throughout the summer, and we are in need of volunteers for concessions. You can use these volunteer hours to complete your 3 spots from the 2018-19 year or get ahead on the 2019-2020 year. Look for emails from Sign Up to get the link or use this link: https://signup.com/go/UGdTdtG. In addition to week night games, there is a tournament the weekend of July 19-21.

If you have any questions please contact Michael Bissell at [email protected] or Kristen Schneider at [email protected].

Charitable giving ideas for 2019

Changes in the tax law kept in place several popular and attractive charitable gifting options. Gifting appreciated stock (held more than one year) to our parish may allow you to deduct the stock’s full value and bypass capital gains tax.

Also, if you are 70 ½ or older, you may be able to reduce your taxable income this year with a gift

made directly from your IRA to our parish (a “Qualified Charitable Distribution”). Talk to your advisors and IRA administrator for more information and to be sure that a gift is made directly from an IRA to a qualified charity such as our parish.

Questions? For assistance please Contact our Business Manager, Tony Flowers, at 216-382-7601, or

via email at [email protected]. You may also contact Sandy Lucas of the Catholic Com-munity Foundation at 216-696-6525, extension 1640, or via email at [email protected].
