Frameless Balustrade Channel

Technical Considerations• It is recommended that a level

firm surface to be provided for fixing of the channel

• Do not fix channel to compressible deck surfaces

• It is recommended that a suitably qualified engineer is consulted to check on all installations.

• Fixing to structure should be a minimum of M10 x 100 stainless steel fixing. Please consult an engineer to determine what fixings are required based on type of structure the channel will be attached to.

ImportantDue to the lime content of all cementitious non shrink grout, please note the following:

1. The FBC10 balustrade channel should not be used in either anodized or mill finish.

2. Powder coating of channel must include both the inside and outside of the product.

3. Grout must be carefully mixed in accordance with the manufacturers instructions as given on the bag. Wrongly mixed grout will increase the likelihood of corrosion of the channel.

• Fresh wet density approximately 2160 kg/cu. m depending on the consistency used

• Young’s Modulus: 25 GPa• Expansions characteristics:

An expansion of up to 1% overcomes shrinkage in plastic material

• Setting times: Initial: 165 minutes 20° Final: 270 minutes 20°

IMPORTANT: Grout must be mixed strictly in accordance with the manufacturers instructions on the bag. Incorrectly mixed grout can cause excessive corrosion.

FBC10 GROUT

Pool Fences• System can be used in applications where the

wind load is no greater than .58 KPa.• This is based on a total system height of 1200mm

including the channel (glass extends 1105mm from the top of the channel).

Note 1:Panels must be greater than 1000mm wide.

Note 2:The system cannot be used in applications where the area can be defined as one where people can congregate.

BalustradesResidential (excluding balconies)• 10mm Toughened can be used to a maximum height of

620mm in applications, where the wind load does not exceed 1.8 KPa.

• 12mm Toughened can be used to a maximum height of 840mm in applications where the wind load does not exceed 1.37 KPa.

• In applications requiring 1000mm high balustrade, 15mm Toughened is to be used, but only to a maximum wind load of 1.12 KPa wind load.

BalustradesResidential (including balconies)• 10mm Toughened can be used to a maximum height

of 550mm in applications where the wind load does not exceed 2.5 KPa.

• 12mm Toughened can be used to a maximum height of 740mm in applications where the wind load does not exceed 1.9 KPa.

• In applications requiring 1000mm high balustrade, 15mm Toughened is to be used, but only to a maximum wind load of 1.37 KPa wind load.

Note 1:The system is not recommended for use in any balustrade installations where fall on the other side is greater than 1 metre.

Note 2:The above results have been generated by ARUP Facade Engineering. Physical testing has also been conducted by Compusoft Engineering in New Zealand. The results of both these are being collated in conjunction with the proposed changes listed in the latest draft of revisions for AS1288.

Driglaze Balustrade Channel

FBC16 can be installed in the concrete slab during casting, and the glass simply installs in the same way as the FBC15. This provides a completely seamless look, with the channel not visible to the untrained eye

FBC16 provides up to 42mm of glass adjustment.
