• Troubleshooting tips if Report designer doesn’t launch:• Add the Dynamics 365 for Operations site as a Trusted Site in Internet

Explorer. Internet Explorer > Internet Options > Security tab. Set the level to Medium-Low or Low.

• Disable pop up blockers in the browser.

• Chrome requires a third-party ClickOnce plugin, search on Chrome web store

• Confirm that .NET version 4.6.2 is installed.

Architecture overview

Working with the data mart

• Used to generate financial reports

• Data is synced from Operations to the data mart using the process services

• Uses SQL Server tracking

• 3-6 day retention policy

Data mart reset

• Clears all tables in the data mart except for some versioning

• Clears select tables in the financial reporting database• Company, users

• Clears financial reporting related tables in Operations database

When NOT to reset

•Operations and financial reporting databases are copied and restored in sync

•Testing general functionality and Operations and Financial reporting are not in sync

•You have incorrect data with no known cause

When to reset

•Operations was restored from source, and financial reporting was kept in place

•Financial reporting process service has not been running for more than 3 days

•Change tracking tokens have been lost or reset on the source database

•Mass changes were made to Operations outside of normal operations process

How to reset the data martPreparation

Shutdown the process service on all BI machines

Open a PowerShell prompt as Administrator

Navigate to Financial reporting\Server\MRDeploy folder

Running the reset

Type Import-Module .\MRDeploy.psd1

Type Reset-DatamartIntegration -Reason OTHER –ReasonDetail

Enter a reason for the reset, for example ‘Imported new database’

Accept the warning to stop the process service

After the reset

Transactional and dimension data take time to sync

Size of financial data and database tier determine the overall time

Reports run before sync may be incomplete

Use query to determine if all tasks are finished:

• select t.name, s.StateType, s.Progress from Scheduling.TaskState s, Scheduling.Task t where s.TaskId = t.Id and s.StateType <> 5

• State 5 ==Completed

• State 7 ==Completed with errors, but wait to see if it clears up

Log a support case if:• If you suspect a bug• See a report with incorrect amounts• Do NOT just re-set the data mart, log a

case to evaluate the root cause
