BA (Hons) Fashion Atelier was launched in 2008 by the University for the Creati ve
Arts. The course is dedicated to the importance of craft and heritage skills to the
design process. 2013 is the third year that we have a graduati on cohort and this
years graduates have produced some of the strongest work to date. Students
from Fashion Atelier have gone on to fi nd employment on Savile Row as well as
internati onally respected fashion houses such as Marc Jacobs and Celine. Industrial
work placements have also been far-reaching and with internati onal companies such
as Anne Demeulemeester, Viktor & Rolf and Rick Owens to name a few.
The Graduates of 2013 are a talented and dedicated group of individuals. They have
raised the majority of the funding for this publicati on themselves through a variety
of innovati ve ideas and events. I would like to thank them for their eff orts. I wish
to thank the fabric stores in New York such as B&J, Rosen and Chadick, Mood and
Elegant Fabrics who supported our students on their annual fabric-sourcing trip.
This publicati on is divided into two disti ncti ve secti ons. The fi rst secti on is dedicated
to the Process, the second secti on is dedicated to the Graduate’s fi nal work. The
Process secti on demonstrates many of the skills which are taught on the course
and can be over looked when seeing the fi nal products. Draping on the stand,
traditi onal bespoke tailoring methods as well as couture dress making methods are
coupled with illustrati on and development of creati ve design ideas. I would like to
congratulate the students for their dedicati on and innovati on. They conti nue to be a
source of inspirati on for the staff of Fashion Atelier.

The process chapter is a collecti on of images
showing the graduates collecti ons in the making.
This secti on demonstrated the level of garment
constructi on skills produced on Fashion Atelier
from the inside out. This secti on celebrates the
level skill and hand craft smanship learned on
fashion atelier including draping on the stand,
creati ve patt ern cutti ng, bespoke tailoring tech-
niques and soft fabric manipulati on and fi nishing.
Highlighti ng the process of a creati ng a high end
collecti on that begins with a concept and seen
through via croquis, draping, experimentati on,
toiling, development, fabric sourcing and han-
dling to fi nal garments, fi nishings and illustrati on.
