FARMERS ARE UNABLE TO PLAY WELL IN THE
AGRICULTURAL MARKETING FIELD
IntroductionBangladesh is an agricultural country.
Farmers are the main hero for our economy. But they are deprived of many
opportunities in agricultural field as well as marketing of their products.
Some problems of farmers of agri-marketing field and their recommendation
are given below-
PROBLEMS
Large number of middlemen Not to get real price of the product Lost interest to grow big quantity of product Middlemen increase their income and farmers
are deprive of fair price
Transportation problem Perishable product Transportation system is not so good Transportation cost is so high
Storage problem Seasonality Storage capacity Farmers do not want to store product
Scatterd and small marketing surplusAgricultural holdings are very small scatterd throughout the country , of which marketable surplus is very large
Poor handling, processing and packaging
As present handlings are inadequaite, for efficient marketing of agricultural products, careful handling, processing and packaging are also requaired
Lack of uniform standardization grading and sorting
Inadequate exists in scientific grading of the produce in the country .In the absence of standardization grading and sorting adulteration in the consequence. For that farmers are unable to play well in agricultural marketing field
Lack of market information about production and marketing
Market information is essential for producers. Traders and consumers as well as Government if market mechanism has to work efficiently Some marketing problems can be traced to lack of information about production
Irregular Supply
In this country, almost are small farmer. They are mostly poor. They have no enough capital to face their seasonal money requirement. So they have to do post-harvest immediate sales that is negative for marketing.

Technological Problem
Farmers have no organization to make help their marketing. For this they have to face many malpractices- unfair weightment, unhealthy sales method, high market charges..

Farmers are poor. They have fewer communicative system in their hand. So information technology should be developed. Then farmer will be able to deal with the buyer very smoothly.
Develop information system
In seasonal time, a certain product produced in large number. Because of perishability and demand lower than the supply, agricultural product spoil mostly. If more agro industry develop, then surplus can be processed and it will decrease the loss and contribute to our economy. Actually increase of agro industry increase the demand of agri-product.

Develop Argi-Export Sectors
Some agri-product have great demand in international market than the local market. So its important to having agri-product exporting company in a agro-based country. Bangladesh is mostly a agro-based country and agriculture contribution in GDP is about 25%. With the development of agri-export sector it will open another door for farmer to get higher price.
