1 GENERAL QUESTIONS

Question: What is HR Renewal?

Answer: HR renewal is an SAP program that delivers user-experience and other functional enhancements for the SAP ERP Human Capital Management (SAP ERP HCM) solution. HR renewal provides the capability for HR administrators, managers, and employees to work more efficiently, using a user interface that is intuitive and well-designed. A new set of landing pages delivers efficient navigation with a consumer-grade look and feel. Collaboration and feeds are also introduced to bring social concepts into SAP ERP HCM. Some great new functional enhancements are also delivered as part of this program.

The focus is on the HR professional role (user responsible for employee and organizational data) and the employee and manager roles for self-service.

For more information, check out the SAP Service Marketplace pages at http://service.sap.com/hcm Core HR & Payroll HR Renewal.

Question: Which licenses are required for HR Renewal?

Answer: There is no additional price for HR Renewal functionality on top of existing user-based licenses for professional users and self-service users. Using collaboration and social networking features within HR Renewal based on SAP Jam requires the respective SAP JAM subscription fees.

Question: Do HR Renewal user interfaces substitute SAP GUI applications? Can I continue to use SAP GUI applications and reports?

Answer: HR Renewal offers alternative user interfaces for HR Professional users, Managers and Employees. All SAP GUI transactions and reports are still in place and remain untouched. You can continue to use them.

HR Renewal offers an excerpt of most commonly used features of the classical SAP GUI applications in an easy-to-consume web-based UI.

You can run them via SAP NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC) or via SAP Enterprise Portal. SAP NWBC allows you to call SAP GUI applications directly via the QuickLaunch bar.

Question: When will the buttons to execute reports with additional data or related infotypes be added to the HR Renewal screen?

Answer: The buttons to execute reports will be delivered with HR Renewal 2.0 FP1 / SP31 for HR Renewal 1.0. This needs to be configured for each infotype, so SAP will deliver this for already delivered functionality step-by-step over the next releases.

Question: Is Payroll built into HR Renewal?

Answer: No, not yet, but a new solution for payroll is delivered in HR Renewal 2.0. The new solution is called the SAP Payroll Control Center add-on and it provides a completely new user experience for payroll, which includes new functionality for payroll data validation and reconciliation that improves the speed and accuracy of the payroll.

Question: Is reporting any simpler with HR Renewal?

Answer: We need to cover two perspectives here:

1. The end user perspective, for example, HR Professionals - HR Renewal provides a much easier access to any available report and analysis through a single lane called the Analytics lane.

The My Reports lane for managers provides them with a single point of access to the reports and analytical data required for their daily work

2. Content and analytics setup perspective - A customer still needs to decide which analytics

tools to use and which reports appear in the end user’s pages. There is no change compared to the current analytics setup. Customers can reuse existing reports and analysis, embedding these into the Analytics lane. If new reports are needed, this needs to be set up in the respective environment used on customers’ side and then can be integrated into the respective end user’s Analytics lane for a single point of entry.

For more information about Analytics, see section 2.9.

2 FUNCTIONAL & USER ROLE SPECIFIC QUESTIONS

2.1 Employee Self Services (ESS)

Question: What do I check if the attachment functionality doesn’t work as expected in the remote gateway scenario for Employee Self-Service and Manager Self-service?

Answer: Ensure that the SICF services HRESSATTUPLOAD and HRMSSATTACH are activated. The web dispatcher rules should be set to route these URIs to be executed in back-end system.

Question: What do I check if the employee profile is blank?

Answer: The Employee Profile application entry shipped in the SAP standard delivery of the Launchpad role: ESS and instance: MENU with HR Renewal 1.0 FP4 might be missing. This is because a customized version of the Launchpad role: ESS and instance: MENU exists in the system and the SAP standard delivery Launchpad role in FP4 will always be behind the customized version of the Launchpad role: ESS and Instance: MENU. Hence, the Employee Profile application is blank. Please copy or create the application entry in the customized version of the Launchpad role: ESS and instance: MENU from the SAP delivery Launchpad role. Ensure that the application alias and additional information parameters are maintained in the Employee Profile application entry.

Question: How do I find the Launchpad role delivered by SAP if a customized Launchpad role exists in the system?

Answer: Navigate to transaction lpd_cust. Edit the role: ESS and instance: MENU. Choose Extras ->Show SAP Version.

Question: Where I can find the Employee Profile application entry in the Launchpad role delivered by SAP?

Answer: Navigate to Employee Self-Service->Personal Information->Personal Information->Employee Profile.

2.2 Manager Self Services (MSS)

Question: Why do I have a blank screen in a remote gateway scenario when I click on an approval item (leave request item)?

Answer: The OData service for Leave approvals and Team Calendar should also be activated in the back-end system.

Question: What do I check when a work item is opened from the UI5 Inbox, and the configured application has opened but the splash screen continues to stay on?

Answer: You need to apply the SAP Note 1236062 specifying a parameter ~noSplash = 1.

2.3 HR Professional

Question: Which country-specific infotype configurations are available with HR Renewal?

Answer: The country specific infotype configurations of HR Renewal for the HR Professional users are continuously growing with each Feature Pack. For up-to-date information, check out the help pages at: http://help.sap.com/hr_renewal [release selection] > Application Help … Personnel & Organization.

Question: Does country-specific content show dynamically based on the employee’s country assignment?

Answer: Yes, if you are running an infotype or process for a specific employee, the solution automatically derives the correct UI configurations that apply to the respective country version. If you run a process without a start object, such as a Hiring process, the country-specific UI configurations are determined dynamically after the user has submitted key data, such as Personnel Area, and so on.

2.4 Learning Solution – Learner’s Portal

Question: After upgrading to HR renewal 1.0, the Training Home link of Web Dynpro ABAP Learner Portal issues the error message HTTP 403 forbidden error. How do I resolve this error?

Answer: You need to activate the corresponding SICF service using the transaction SICF. Proceed as follows to activate the service in your LSOFE system:

Go to transaction SICF and enter LSOF_TRAINING_HOME as the service name; then select the F8 key.

Page 6: FAQs HR Renewal

6

On the next screen, right click on the service LSOF_TRAINING_HOME and choose Activate Service.

Question: There are some icons missing in the Web Dynpro ABAP Learner Portal. How do I resolve this problem?

Answer: The Web Dynpro ABAP Learner Portal uses icons from the MIME repository. An SICF service corresponds to each of these icons. You need to activate these services in your LSOFE system. You can do this in one go by following these steps:

Go to transaction SICF and enter LSOFE as the service name and select F8.

In the next screen, right click on the LSOFE node and select Activate Service; after you have done this, choose the second Yes button in the dialog that appears.

Question: I am unable to launch e-learnings or Web-Based-Trainings from the Training Home and Training Details page on the Web Dynpro ABAP Learner portal or the NWBC environment. How do I resolve this problem?

Answer: When the Learner Portal is launched via the Enterprise Portal or in the NWBC, portal events are used to launch the Content Player with the e-learning content. These portal events are created by the Web Dynpro application and handled by a hidden BSP application. For the e-learnings to launch properly, the SICF service of this BSP application needs to be active. To activate the service LSOF_LAUNCHWBT, proceed as follows:

Go to transaction SICF and enter LSOF_LAUNCHWBT as the service name; choose F8.

On the next screen, right click on the LSOF_LAUNCHWBT node and select Activate Service.

Question: When trying to launch the e-learnings in the Portal or NWBC environment on the Web Dynpro Learner portal, I get an HTTPS security compromised error from the Browser and the content is not launched. How do I solve this problem?

Answer: It is important to make sure that the BSP application (LSOF_LAUNCHWBT) that is used for launching the Content Player and the Learner Portal Web Dynpro application (LSOF_TRAINING_HOME) are launched using the same protocol - either HTTP or HTTPS. If the Training Home application is launched via HTTPS and the BSP application via HTTP, then the browser will issue an HTTPS security compromised error and will not load the BSP application. So make sure that the default protocol for both the applications is the same. Refer to this link for more details.

Question: I have configured a Web dispatcher for the Web Dynpro ABAP Learner portal but the BSP application LSOF_LAUNCHWBT is still trying to load using the LSOFE system host instead of the Web dispatcher. How do I solve this problem?

Answer: You can influence the way a URL is generated for a BSP application. You do so by making an entry in the table HTTPURLLOC. For details, see the documentation at link.

The same problem can occur if your back-end and the portal are on different domains; the same solution is also applicable here.

Answer: A scroll bar has been introduced to solve this problem. Please apply note 1954746.

2.6 Search

Question: Which search engines can be used within HR Renewal?

Answer: Customers can deploy SAPQuery-based search or Embedded Search (TREX based). In the standard delivery, SAP Query-based search is active by default. Embedded Search offers extensive features to search data based on relationships and so on.

The user interface is same whether you activate SAP Query-based search or Embedded Search. Search is possible as a separate lane in the UI5 landing pages, within the HR Professionals Master Data Application, as well as in the central search field (QuickLaunch field) of NWBC for Desktop.

For more information, see the application help.

Question: Can the overall Search be used as a people directory or employee look-up for any employee user?

Answer: Yes, the Search lane can also be part of the Employee Self-Services landing page and will then serve as a people directory. In the configuration of the search user interfaces, you can define which objects (employee, position, and orgunit) will be available for which role (assignment through personalization object in PFCG).

See the configuration options in Customizing for the component Personnel & Organization and choose >Search > Group Search Categories.

predefined adapter is delivered), and link the Business Warehouse reports to the HR Renewal lanes.

2.9 HANA

Question: Does HR Renewal require HANA?

Answer: In general, starting with EhP7, all applications run on HANA and HR Renewal 2.0 is no exception. With HR Renewal 2.0, we delivered the first version of Payroll Control Center for payroll administrators and payroll managers. This new functionality leverages HANA in-memory capabilities and the goal of the control center is to optimize overall payroll processing time. We will see more such optimizations on HANA in our next feature packs.

3.2 Landing Page Setup – Generic and Role-Specifics, Gateway

Question: How do I get the background pictures for branding? How easy is it to configure?

Answer: The Suite Page Builder or Landing page allows administrators to upload the background image. For more information about configuring the background images, see link.

Question: How can you speed up the retrieval of content from the Launchpad?

Answer: If the Use Shared Memory chaeckbox is on for the Launchpad, then the contents are read from the shared memory instead of the database after the initial reading which enables faster retrieval of information from the Launchpad.

For more information, look for Working in the General Settings of a Launchpad in the docu-mentation for SAP NetWeaver Platform 7.4 at http://help.sap.com/netweaver.

Additionally, we recommend that you install the latest version of the NW UI Add-On on the latest SAP UI SP on NW740, since there are performance improvements with each new SAP UI SP.

Question: Why do we consume SAP NetWeaver Gateway in HR Renewal?

Answer: The Landing page is developed using SAPUI5. The user interface is developed using the UI5 controls or elements and data to the user interface is provided using OData services. SAP NetWeaver Gateway offers development and generation tools to create, execute OData services. It establishes a connection between SAP Business Suite data and target clients, platforms, and programming framework.

Question: How do we disable the personalization for our Landing pages?

Answer: Currently, you cannot disable the personalization on the Landing page. This is planned for further releases.

Question: How do you get a login page for the HR Landing page? Is Single Sign On (SSO) possible? Is Gateway needed?

Answer: (1) If you access the HR Renewal content using the SAP Enterprise Portal and NWBC, you will get a login page. Additionally, you can apply SAP Note 2005611(Suite Page Builder and SPB Admin-Login page).

(2) Yes. If you configure the OData services as ‘Required with SSL Certificate’ in the Logon Data, then SSO is possible.

(3) All the OData services will be available in the Gateway system. Either external Gateway, where ABAP system and Gateway system are different, or internal Gateway, where both ABAP and Gateway system are same.

(4) If you would like to use any browser for early test activities to test your application, in order to avoid multiple popups for log-on credentials, log-on screen is configured. This screen should not be used in a productive environment.

Question: How does logout work within HR Renewal?

Answer: Usually you will access HR Renewal content using the recommended access capabilities of SAP Enterprise Portal or NWBC. Here you have standard log off buttons.

In case you want to use a browser for early testing of your application configurations before NWBC or a portal is available, you may also use these browsers, directly accessing the application URLs. In this specific case, there won’t be explicit log off buttons as these come up automatically with portal or NWBC usage. Be aware that sessions remain active in these test cases. Hence, this should not be used as a default productive way to access the landing pages at all.

Question: Which version is recommended for the UI Add-On for SAP NetWeaver for installing the landing pages?

Answer: It is recommended that you always use the latest version of UI Add-On for SAP NetWeaver for the landing pages.

Question: How do I add and remove the lanes?

Answer: You can add and remove lanes from the Admin page of the Suite Page Builder.

o For more information about adding lanes, see the documentation. o For more information about configuring and deleting, see the documentation. o For more information about Role and Catalog linkage, see documentation.

Question: The navigation on the landing page doesn’t work for the HR Professional. What should I check first?

Answer: The SM59 connections are required. If they are not there, create SM59 connections for the required destinations.

Question: What do I need to check if the Actions Lane for the HR Professional isn’t loading?

Answer: In general you define the actions or applications available for the Actions lane on the landing page and

the action menu via the IMG activity Configure Launchpad for Actions. Additionally you have to specify your PFCG role for HR professionals the launchpad name for actions via the IMG Activity Assign

Launchpad to Role. If the Action lane is not loading you have to check in the Launchpad transaction (LPD_CUST), whether the Launchpad can be opened in Display mode. If you can’t open the Launchpad in display mode, run the report APB_LPD_CORRECT_TEXTTABLES.

Further checks as follows:

o Check that the OData service /UI2/LAUNCHPAD is configured correctly in the back-end o Check whether the BSP application for Actions is activated in SICF (SICF services are as

follows) in back-end system: /default_host/sap/bc/bsp/sap/hrpao_lpd_c, /default_host/sap/bc/ui5_ui5/sap/hrpao_lpd_c

Question: What do I need to check if new country actions are not available in the Actions lane for the HR Professional?

Answer: Check whether the customized version of the Launchpad exists for Launchpad HRPAO ACTIONS. If a custom version of the Launchpad exists, then delete the custom version and activate the business functions.

For more information you may want to check the following blog on SCN:

http://scn.sap.com/community/erp/hcm/blog/2013/10/28/customized-version-of-launchpad

Question: I entered a new or customized Launchpad in personalization object HRPAO_ACTIONS_LPD for the role or the HR Professional, but the standard content is still being displayed in the Actions lane. What do I need to check if the customized Launchpad entries are not displayed?

Answer: The Launchpad name whose contents are displayed in the Action lane is determined from the following logic.

Page 16: FAQs HR Renewal

If the user has a composite role assigned, then the role's personalization object key (HRPAO_ACTIONS_LPD) is read. Once a composite role with this personalization object key is read, no further composite role is being read for this value.

If the user does not have any composite roles assigned, then for single roles assigned to the user, the personalization object key (HRPAO_ACTIONS_LPD) is read. Once a single role with this personalization object key is read, no further single role is being read for this value.

Question: On accessing actions from SAP’s standard configuration via the role of the HR Professional, I receive the following message: “Process... does not exist”. What do I need to check?

Answer: Processes shipped by SAP as samples in the standard delivery may not be available in your working client. Thus, HCM Processes and Forms need to be reconciled for the client. For more information about reconciliation, see link.

Question: Why do I have a blank screen in a remote gateway scenario when I click on an approval item (leave request item) using ESS / MSS?

Answer: The OData service for Leave approvals and Team Calendar should also be activated in the back-end system.

Question: What do I check if, in remote gateway scenario for Employee Self-Service and Manager Self-service, the attachment functionality doesn’t work as expected?

Answer: Ensure that the SICF services HRESSATTUPLOAD and HRMSSATTACH are activated. The web dispatcher rules should be set to route these URIs to be executed in back-end system.

Question: What do I check if the employee profile is blank?

Answer: The Employee Profile application entry shipped in the SAP standard delivery of the Launchpad role ESS, instance MENU with HR Renewal 1.0 FP4 might be missing. This is because a customized version of the Launchpad role ESS, instance MENU exists in the system and the SAP standard delivery Launchpad role in FP4 will always be behind the customized version of the Launchpad role ESS, Instance MENU. Hence, the Employee Profile application is blank. Please copy or create the application entry in the customized version of the Launchpad role ESS, instance MENU from the SAP delivery Launchpad role. Ensure that the application alias and additional information parameters are maintained in the Employee Profile application entry.

Question: How do I find the Launchpad role delivered by SAP if a customized Launchpad role exists in the system?

Answer: Navigate to transaction lpd_cust. Edit the role ESS and instance MENU. Choose Extras ->Show SAP Version.

Question: Where I can find the Employee Profile application entry in Launchpad role delivered by SAP?

Answer: Navigate via IMG to Employee Self-Service -> Personal Information -> Personal Information -> Employee Profile.

Question: What do I check when a work item is opened from UI5 Inbox and the configured application has opened but the splash screen continues to stay on?

Answer: You need to apply the SAP Note 1236062 specifying a parameter ~noSplash = 1.

3.3 Customer-specific Field configurations of Infotypes

Question: Customers appreciate the high level of configurability of HCM solutions in Organizational Management processes and Personnel Administration. For example, user exits, features to determine default values, BAdIs as field configuration tables in Customizing to add fields, hide fields, set fields to mandatory, and so on. How can we ensure that these configurations are available in the HR Renewal user interfaces in the UI5 and Webdynpro ABAP technologies?

Answer: For UI5 (ESS / MSS application)

Existing infotype fields can be removed or added within an IMG activity. For instance, for the Employee Profile application in ESS (UI5), you can make these settings in the IMG at Personnel Management > Employee Self-Service (SAP UI5) > Configurations for Data Retrieval > Create Configuration with Field Groups.

You can also add or remove cards in the Employee Profile application. You can also make these settings in the listed Customizing activities.

More information can be found in the Ramp-up Knowledge Transfer training material at link.

For Webdynpro ABAP

Each Infotype is represented with different technical layers, the UI-related one being the FPM Configuration (Floorplan Manager Configuration). Within this layer, you can influence field attributes such as hidden, display-only, and mandatory.

All infotypes must be decoupled infotypes. Thus, certain checks would take place within the decoupling class. BAdIs are located in the UI Conversion class of an infotype.

Table T588M is not directly supported within the infotype screens within HR Renewal. An alternative table T588MFPROPC allows you to set similar settings for the WDA based infotypes. However, some restrictions apply here:

These settings will apply in all WDA user interfaces of this infotype across different roles

Attribute Unused should not be used.

3.4 Processes & Forms Content

Question: HR Renewal 2.0 uses processes and forms based on Web Dynpro ABAP technology. What is the concept behind this?

Answer: In HR Renewal there are two different form types being offered for multi-infotype editing that are based on Web Dynpro ABAP. We introduced the FPM form for Organizational Management processes and Personnel Administration processes in a one-pager format and the Roadmap form providing simple user guidance for employee processes through larger content.

Question: Is there any additional license fee for the use of HCM Processes & Forms?

Answer: There is no additional license required to use Processes & Forms on WebDynpro ABAP within HR Renewal.

Question: What is the difference between HCM Processes and Forms and SAP Interactive Forms based on Interactive Forms by Adobe?

Answer: The SAP Web Dynpro UI for HCM Processes and Forms is currently designed to be used by the HR professionals, employees, and manager roles inside HR. It does not replace SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe.

Question: Do customers have to use HCM Processes and Forms for their processes, such as hiring an employee, for example?

Answer: Customers can make use of HCM Processes and Forms to support multi-infotype maintenance beyond the single infotype maintenance in the Master Data Application. With HR Renewal, we introduced two form types in addition to the Adobe form. Based on business needs customers can either use FPM forms as one-pagers or the Roadmap form for a guided procedure for a large amount of infotypes. SAP offers country specific samples that can be reused and adapted.

Question: Which forms are currently being delivered?

Answer: In HR Renewal we deliver several forms, for example, per country. SAP also delivers FPM Forms and Roadmap Forms. FPM forms are supporting Organizational Management processes and Personnel Administration processes. The Roadmap Forms offer a guided procedure for Personnel Administration Processes. For more information about the delivered Processes, see link.

Question: Can Processes and Forms be tied into the SAP workflow?

Answer: Yes, it can be for single or multi-step processes. The approach is different based on form types:

Form type (FPM Form) - Different forms can be configured for different users in a series of workflow steps.

Form type (Roadmap Form) - One overall form can be configured which can be shared between different users who participate in the completion of the form at this stage.

Question: Can customers use Web Dynpro ABAP forms in the Portal, ESS, and MSS roles?

Answer: Yes, you can use Web Dynpro ABAP forms in the Portal or NWBC. The templates delivered by SAP may need to be adapted or configured for some roles.

3.5 Collaboration Integration

Question: Which prerequisites are needed so that JAM, the collaboration and discussion function works in HR Renewal?

Answer: The following prerequisites are needed for the discussion function to work:

You must configure the SAP JAM collaboration function. For more information about SAP Jam, see http://help.sap.com/sapjam or the SAP Jam ABAP Integration – Configuration Guide at http://scn.sap.com/.

The e-mail address in SAP JAM must correspond with the e-mail address in the back-end HCM system for the user (in SU01 or SU10).

You have made the settings for the Discussions lane in Customizing under Personnel & Organization -> Landing Page -> Discussions Lane.

For more information about the discussion lane, see the documentation.
