How does my cash account work

Your cash account is an account through which all your transactions are processed. Purchases of shares and term deposits are funded from the available cash held in your cash account. Proceeds from your investments, such as dividends and the principal and interest from your term deposits, are deposited into your cash account. Any applicable taxes are also withdrawn from your cash account.

The interest you earn on the cash account will be calculated daily and paid monthly in arrears on or around the last business day of the month. The DIO cash rate can be located on your Macquarie DIO homepage. The cash account is transactional only and is not designed for use as a cash investment.

You must retain $500 in your cash account at all times as part of the DIO terms and conditions.

How do I view transactions in and out of my cash account (e.g. interest received or tax paid)?

You can view your cash transactions by generating a Cash Transactions report or viewing the recent transactions from the Cash page.

How to check my Term Deposit maturity date

You can view your term deposit maturity date by logging into your DIO account and checking the transactions page, which will show any term deposits purchased.

Purchasing Shares

What is the difference between a Market and Limit order?

Market orders Market orders will go into market to execute at the best available price, however the execution and the price is not guaranteed. Market orders cannot be accepted outside of market hours or when trading in a particular stock is halted or suspended.

Limit ordersLimit orders allow you to set a maximum purchase price for your buy order, or a minimum sale price for your sell

orders. If the market doesn’t reach your limit price, your order will not be executed.

You can place an ‘At Limit’ order during market hours. You can also place an ‘At Limit’ order when the market is closed and it will be queued ready for processing when the market opens.

Please note that an ‘At Limit’ order will not be accepted, without any advice to you, if we consider the limit price to be too far away from the prevailing market price of that stock.

Order expiry

Orders can remain on market for ‘today only’, or until cancelled. ‘Today only’ orders are valid for the business day on which they are placed and will expire before the market opens on the next business day. If your order is placed with the Authorised Broker after market operating hours, it will go on market the next business day and will expire before the market opens again on the business day after the order went on market.

Timing of orders

Subject to the above conditions, at market trades must be placed within the normal trading hours of 10am to 4pm (Sydney time).

How to place orders for shares

You can place orders to buy and sell shares from the Shares page.

1. On the Shares page click Buy shares for new orders or click the Buy or Sell options that relate to your current holdings
