sussex senior cup

bhtfc 1-1 faversham fc

A goal from Tom Parkinson in the second minute, in his second game since joining on loan from Maid-stone United, gave Hill a great start. A ball which was headed in and out of the goalmouth a number of times eventually come down at the feet of the defender for the goal. After that, the tempo of the game rarely dropped and although the home side finished the half with the

narrow lead, the visitors probably spent more time in their opponents half of the pitch. The tempo remained high in the second half and the Hillians enjoyed much more of the game as the ‘end to end’ intensity continued against one of the League’s newcomers who have had big wins this year over serious title contenders.Faversham equaliser with about 15 minutes to go during a goalmouth

melee, and although Hill had good chances to win the game after that - this is a decent point against a form side.

Further to my post of a couple of weeks ago, this league is now re-ally hotting up, my dear old club Worthing are still talking about their fading playoff hopes.....! Anyway as it is quite clear that we are not getting anywhere near the play-offs (might save a bit of anguish after the last three sea-sons!!) My IDEAL Champions would be BOGNOR (best side we

have played), with Leatherhead, Walton & Hersham, Met Police (Thugs, but they are not **Ite-hawk) and your dear old selves. Good Luck in the play-offs and no boasting please you have a long way to go to match the his-tory of Worthing (had to say that but yes we are pretty ordi-nary at the moment)

LEN SHINDLER

1933 – 2011

It is with sadness that the Club reports the death of long time supporter and former player Len Shin-dler. Len played for the Club directly after the war at Fairfield Rec. and as a committee member in the late 60’s worked tirelessly with others to relo-cate the Club to it’s new ground at Leylands Park.

During that period he acted as a committee mem-ber and a team manager. In recent years he worked closely on the 400 Club.

Our thoughts are with Len’s wife Sheila, his two sons Stephen and Paul and daughter Margaret.

Bognor to win and go up

You’d have to have a serious set of beer goggles on to say we could survive in the Prem, assuming of course we stay in 5th and win two play-off games. But there again, is anyone else below us in a better position? Worthing are the only ones with the background set-up (as far as I know) but that aint happen-ing this year.

So if it stays as it is, or we are replaced in 5th by another club around us it still looks like Bognor to up automatically and one from Leatherhead, White-hawk or Met, and frankly I’m not both-ered either way.I guess it would be quite nice to ac-tually get rid of the Met into another league, but is that really a rational basis for promotion??!!

Thank you for all the information and feedback that has been received since the first issue. This in-formation makes the fanzine. It would not be pos-sible with without this. Please feel free to send in anything that is on your mind and that you think should be heard. The more views and comments, the better the fanzine will be for you, the fans.

a big thank you!
