bhtfc 2-2 whitehawk fc

A draw could be seen as a good result by the home side, consider-ing the result in the reverse fixture. But with Hillians recent results and good form, and, a 2-0 lead ..... well, in the end it was still a good result, and certainly an exciting and enter-taining match.The two goal lead lasted until the 40th minute, another 5 minutes might have done the trick. The first goal on 17 minutes came from Matt

Percival making his first League start for many weeks after injury, he fired the ball home to finish off a good passing move. The second goal came after 30minutes when a long high ball found Steve Harper out wide on the right touchline, he brought it down and in the same movement passed it around his marker, running onto the ball and sending an inch perfect pass into the path of Danny Curd to score and finish a move of the highest

standard.Hill couldn’t hold the lead until halftime, on 40 minutes Joe Gatting poked one home from close range after heavy pressure from White-hawk. After the break as expected, Whitehawk encouraged by their goal continued tirelessly to seek the equaliser. Saverio Arona now replaced Matt Percival, dropping in at right back with Neil Watts mov-ing to midfield. With about an hour

gone Whitehawk won a free kick on the edge of the Hill Box, the kick was fired into the wall and a penalty given for handball. Al-though Joel Harding in goal, went the right way the shot was firmly hit and the score now 2 -2.If we had the better of the first half, it was now the turn of the opposition. Right upto the final whistle - heavy Hawks pressure. A couple of smart stops from the

Hillian’s keeper towards the end of the game kept the scores level. Lloyd Skinner replaced Danny Curd for the later stages. A quality entertain-ing game, Hill maybe a little hap-pier with the point than high-flying Whitehawk.

I want to buy;

1) A burger or kit kat- but cant because the wagon has been shut for 2 games (not including a sat-urday off as well)

2) A shirt or mug - but cant because the shop has been shut for er.........nearly the whole sea-son

I want to read;1) Some notes in the programme from GC (yes, really!)2) Some info about the commercial side of the club, why have a new shirt?, whats happening this year with the club, how many people are in the 400 club, how many people have members cards.

It is not good enough to have no mer-chandise on sale at all and to have the wagon shut for two games in a row.Are more volunteers needed? Has any-one asked?I understand that financing the ground, the utility bills, and the play-ers are the key items but if you do not match the expectations of the Ryman

league fans with food, info and a bit of quality people will not turn up.

The visible commercial side for the supporters needs to be back where it was a year ago, and pronto. I dont know why the shop and wagon are shut because there is no info. Give the info to Dan and Pete to put it in the programme and tell me and then I’ll shut up! You get better service on the catering, goods, and info front at East Grinstead (for instance). Sort it please!

Incidentally, the tea served in the bar the last two games has been better then anything thats come out of that wagon in the last two years. And if we are not selling anything (other than at the bar, how does that help the club??.

Well done to The Met Police as they beat Wealdstone in their FA Cup re-play at Wealdstone. They are now the only Ryman 1 South side left in the cup and their reward is a trip to Ry-man Premier side Hendon.This of course would have been The Hillians route to Wembley.Not the best of draws with Hendons average home gate of around 170 but of course the FA revenue would have come in handy.The Mets league programme starts again on the 23rd October and up to the 10th November they have 7 games.A game every 3 days, unless they pro-gress in the cup and that may add to the equation.Oh the joys of being a successful side

moans and groans

GC is taking another holiday and feels he can leave the running of the side to his minions.Well don’t suggest I don’t have the club at heart because I miss the occasional game due to other commitments.How dedicated can one be.For someone wanting at least a play off place it does seem odd that holi-days are more important than the progression of the side.Now if one had to go to Helmund Province that may be a different story.

Croydon Athletic Update

As far as I have read and seen the fol-lowing has happened;Others might know more.

Majeed has had his accounts frozen so no-one at the club (or the bills) have been paid for at least 3 weeks.

The manager, assistant, and first team all resigned on satuday after the home game.h t t p : / / w w w . y o u t u b e . c o m /watch?v=2K4FSotm3Mo

The league have postponed the next two league games (which i guess they will have to play with kids, assuming of course the club can keep going). They have an FA Cup tie coming up next week, if they dont play that I pre-sume they’ll be booted out of the FAC for years.

What an unholy mess, and something you wouldnt wish on anyone or any club. Best of luck to all the fans at The Crem!

chit chat

As a reward for beating The Hillians in the FA Trophy last Saturday Maidstone have sacked their manager.Sitting bottom of the Premier league was not good enough for their directors.

Bognors home game against Walton Casuals and Goldalmings home game against the Met Police have been hit by an over indulgence of water. Both postponed.

A bit tricky to draw any conclusions this early in the season about attend-ances until every club has had a good spread of games from the worst to the best supported but a few pointers;

We have the 7th highest home crowds so far this seasonWorthings avge home crowd is 211 ours is 164 - cant remember last year but that seems closer.

For ALL games we have the 5th high-est crowds so far.

I think thats pretty much where we were last year with crowds. i cant see a site with comparison with last year. Since the demise of Tony kempster (RIP) i doubt anyone will take up that task.

What does this tell us? Not much! Apart from Bognor we now have a league with all relatively small crowds now that the well supported clubs have all gone up. So maybe our aver-age is pretty good.
