A special time or event when people gather to celebrate something in order to remove their negativities and to seek pleasure.

Many people celebrate religious festivals as it is considered compulsory in their religion and many people celebrate festivals according to their traditions and culture.

HARBIN ICE AND SNOW FESTIVAL, CHINA (JANUARY 5)

People build incredible things out of ice and snow, decorating them with lights and lasers.

Chinese New Year: ( January 21)

• The biggest Chinese holiday, with dragons, fireworks, symbolic clothing, flowers, lanterns, and celebration, everywhere in China, and even in other Asian countries.

 Songkran Water Festival, Thailand: April 13-15

The Thai New Year festival falls on some of the hottest days in Thailand, and people celebrate by throwing water on each other, using water guns, buckets, hoses- whatever they can get their hands on.

Battle of Oranges (Ivrea,Italy:February)

HISTORY:- (1)Many centuries ago a tyrant tried to violate a girl, but before

he had a chance the girl chopped his head and the whole town celebrated.

(2)That is how the Battle Of Oranges born in Ivrea. (3)The towns people divided them in 9 teams, stage the battle and attack each other with oranges.

La Tomatina,Spain (Last Wednesday in August)The whole point is to throw tomatoes at people.

Families release floating lanterns into the water to represent their ancestors’ spirits being sent off.

Obon Festival, Japan(August)

Pingxi Lantern Festival, Taiwan (February) People write their wishes on fire lanterns and release them into the sky en masse, creating a beautiful spectacle of floating lights.

DIWALI FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS: OCTOBER/NOVEMBER

A family-oriented festival with firecrackers, sweets, and the lighting of small clay lamps and candles.

Panafest, Ghana, Africa( July-August)

• It was first held in 1992• An African cultural celebration with theatre, drama, music,

conferences, fashion and art. The idea of this festival is to promote and enhance unity and the development of the continent of Africa itself.

BASANT

• Held in February.• Basant is a Punjabi festival celebrating the onset

of the spring season.• The sky is full of colorful kites of all shapes and

sizes.• This festival is celebrated with kite flying

competitions all over the city especially in the Androon-e-Shehr area.

• Some of the kite-flying competitions get extremely competitive and serious.

SHAB-E-BARAT

• A religious festival featuring fireworks and light displays which is celebrated throughout Pakistan. Almost every home, small or big, rich or poor, in city or village is decorated with candles, lamps and lights.

EID-E-MELAD-UN-NABI

• The Holy Prophet Mohammed's birthday. Celebrated throughout Pakistan with never ending processions featuring beautifully decorated carts, animals & vehicles & colorfully dressed singers' groups reciting religious songs. Free food and lots of charity is given to the poor's all over the country.

NATIONAL HORSE AND CATTLE SHOW (03 Days)

• The biggest national show of Pakistan at Fortress Stadium, Lahore. Features traditional sports, exhibitions of handicrafts, dresses & jewelry; horse & cattle show, camel & horse races, camel & horse dances, tent pegging, concerts & colorful stalls in an exhibition.

Carnival of Venice, Italy: (Between February & March)

• One of the most beautiful festivals in the world, people wear masks and elaborate costumes to hide differences among classes, and there are contests for the best costumes.
