About the show Families are networks of people who share their lives over long periods of time bound by ties of marriage, blood, law, or commitment, legal, or otherwise, who consider themselves as family and who share a significant history and anticipated future of functioning as a family. ( page 8) In this sitcom Family Guy, they have a very interesting, hilarious, ignorant, un functional way to show all those things. The show follows Peter Griffin adventures and his odd family of middle class New Englanders. It is a two parent biological family, that consists parents being ( Peter Griffin and Lois ) and the children ( Meg, Chris, Stevie ) who are the union of these parents and finally, Brian ( the talking dog) is also a part of this family.
  • 4. The cast Peter Griffin; Is the provider for the family, most of the time obnoxious and befuddled. Lois Griffin; is the loving stay at home mom, provides most of daily tasks and plays the role of taking care of the whole family. Meg Griffin; is the only daughter that is too smart for her own good, and is a social outcast. Chris Griffin; is the socially awkward typical teen and does not have a clue about the opposite sex. He is often confused and at the awkward age of 13 discovering himself. Stewie Griffin; is the talking, wisecracking, genius baby that is always trying to dominate the world. Brian Griffin; is the talking dog, Peters best friend and loyal companion. He has a very dry sense of humor and enjoys drinking martinis.

  • 10. Family Roles Within families, roles are established, grown into, grown through, discussed, negotiated, worked on, and accepted or rejected ( page 150 ) As family members mature or outside forces impact the family, roles emerge, change, or disappear. (page 150) We define family roles as recurring patterns of behavior developed through the interaction that family members use to fulfill family functions.( page 150) The term role can be widely used and can mean very different things to different people. The griffin family has a little bit of all three family functions; Instrumental- which provides the resources for the family Affective- which provides support and nurturing needs Mixed- life skill development and system upkeep.
