Summer 2016 Volume 37 No. 3

The thing that has impressed me most in the thirteenth chapter as I’ve restudied it is that love “beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, en-dureth all things.” Love never faileth! We’ve seen prophecies fail and education and knowl-edge get embarrassed, but Christ has never been a disappoint-ment. Love is the only basis of acceptable service to the Saviour. With pierced side and nail-

printed hand, Jesus called to the fisherman on the seashore and said, “Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me?” When he answered in the affirmative, Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.”

Christianity becomes insin-cere and a racket when love is

absent. The greatest challenge Jesus ever gave His disciples was the challenge to love one anoth-er- “Even as I have loved you,” John 13:34.

It was Celsus, a critic of the ear-ly Christians, who said, “These Christians love each other even before they are aquainted.” Again, “By this shall all men know that ye are My disciples, if ye have love one to another,”

I’ve been refreshing my mem-ory on I Corinthians 13, the great Love Chapter. Accord-

ing to the last verse and the last three words of the twelfth chap-ter, love is the “more excellent way.” Though one may speak with tongues of men and of an-gels, without love, it’s like sound-ing brass or tinkling cymbal. Though one may have the gift of prophecy and be able to explain all mysteries and all knowledge and have enough faith to remove mountains, without love, it leaves us in the land of nowhere.Though one may bestow all his goods to feed the poor and even give his body to be burned and has not love, it will profit him nothing.

What I believe he is saying is this- apart from the knowledge of God through Christ, our accomplishments are void, and our life is empty. Remember, “He that loveth not, knoweth not God; for God is love,” I John 4:8.

Love lightens the everyday load, even as in the case of Jacob who served fourteen years for Rachel while it seemed to him but a few days because he loved her.

“UPDATE...” cont.

that there is only one way to true peace, and that is through a relationship with our Saviour Jesus Christ. May our Heavenly Father bless you as you continue to spread the Good News through this project!”

This was our third year passing out tracts and DVD’s at the largest native event in America called “The Gathering of Nations.” This event draws 150,000 people, representing 700 tribes from across America, Canada, and South America. We know of no other event where we are able to witness to such a large cross-section of Native America! It was a blessing to partner again with Pastor Benally and his local church in the endeavor. Pray for him as he represents Christ among his Navajo people and other tribes in the Albuquerque area.

Another highlight was to join our friend and faithful laborer, Pastor Sarracino for his Sun-day services. It was a special time to join his church family to review his testimony which we recorded last year in his Laguna Pueblo community. It is now on the newest edition of Native Voices. We had prayer together to dedicate this tool to reach souls for Christ in the regions beyond.

Please know how much we consider you a vital part of our ministry. Our hearts are over-whelmed by God’s goodness in allowing us to serve together in His cause…the rescue of precious souls for His glory!

Ways to listen to the Family Altar Program!Every day the preaching of God’s Word is heard across America on the Family Altar Program. The broadcast is aired on about 100 radio stations. You can find an updated list of stations on our web-site (www.roloff.org). Since not everyone who loves Brother Roloff’s messages lives within listening range of a station that air the program, there are some additional ways to hear the broadcast.

You can listen to Family Altar Program on your computer by going to the Roloff Evangelistic En-terprises website (www.roloff.org). There is a large archive of the most-requested sermons in the “Sermon Favorites” section. In addition, all of the current sermons being aired on the radio stations may be accessed through the “Radio Station Broadcasts” icon. All of the messages on the website may be downloaded for free.

You can also listen to old-time preaching, including the Family Altar Program, on the Fundamental Broadcasting Network (www.fbnradio.com). FBN has 39 radio station affiliates in 15 states. We rejoice that the preaching of God’s Word is going around the world as well. They also air the broadcasts on local stations in Haiti, Iraq, Peru, Ghana, Bolivia, Togo, Liberia, Nepal, China, Cameroon, the Philippines, and the Dominican Republic. The listening times for the Family Altar Program on FBN are Monday-Friday 5:30 – 5:45 am and 10:30 – 10:45 am, Saturday 10:00 – 10:30 pm, and Sunday 5:00 – 5:30 am and 10:00 – 10:30 pm.

Did you know that you are also able to listen to Brother Roloff on your phone? Simply call (712) 432-4370 to be instantly connected to FBN’s free audio service. Extension #5 is dedicated to the Family Altar Program broadcast archives. For those of you with a “smart phone,” the FBN Radio app is avail-able for free from the ITunes Store so you can listen on your mobile device!

We rejoice that the Family Altar Program is also being broadcast around the world on shortwave radio reaching many countries that are otherwise closed to the Gospel. WWCR (15.825 Mhz) broad-casts 11:00–11:30 am Monday-Friday (Central Standard Time), and WTJC (9370 kHz) broadcasts the program the same times as the FBN schedule listed above (Eastern Standard Time).

John 13:35. And when the heathen gladiators sat in the big stadium as the Christians became lighted torches, they said, “Behold, how they love one another.”

Love is the bread for which most people starve. Love is the oil that goes into the delicate machin-ery of life to make it run smoothly.

It was a glorious day when heaven struck up a love affair with this old sin-cursed world. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only be-gotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life,” John 3:16.

Love will save us from fretting and worry. Have

you ever known of a bird that tried to build more nests than its neighbor; or a fox that fretted be-cause he had only one hole in which to hide? No squirrel ever died worrying over the fact that he did not have enough pecans laid up for two winters instead of one. Love simplifies the problems of life. The early disciples lived gloriously and victoriously and while “Jesus” was about the longest and hard-est word they knew, and to them it meant “Love.”

Only the Christian knows God’s love. The Holy Spirit, according to Romans 5, only sheds abroad the love of God in the heart of the one who has been justified by faith in the Lord Jesus. The great-est privilege that the Christian could ever know is to be engaged to Jesus and look forward to the marriage supper of the Lamb. The Bible will be our marriage license, and the Holy Spirit will per-form the wedding. The redeemed will be the bride; Jesus will be the Bridegroom, and our Heavenly Father will witness the wedding. Praise God!

“Decades ago, when I embraced, by faith, that God would fill those who hungered and thirsted after righteousness, the Family Altar Program and Bro. Roloff helped me learn and grow in the faith, establishing my going, and in the right direction, dictated by God’s Word. I am blessed.” -A. G. Deep Gap, NC

“Thank you for your faithfulness to God and for keeping Bro. Roloff’s Family Altar Program on the air. I’ve been listening since 1959 and raised my four kids on Bro. Roloff’s preaching and sing-ing. We started with all those long-play records until Lester (his name-sake) wore them out.” -D.V. Temple, TX

“Thank you for the sermon on “Job”; it came on just the day I needed it, and it encouraged me to go on.” -J. B. K. Sterling, OH

“I’ve been listening since ‘75. What a blessing to me. I believe Bro. Roloff had more faith than any man I know.” -I. L. Hernshaw, WV
