Each construction integrates unique details that redefine the harmony between artisan craftsmanship

and industrial perfection, between quality of vision and formal expression. Both style and

functionality guide the selection of materials: acetate, titanium, stainless steel and other metal

alloys are shaped and combined to ensure the enduring elegance and the outstanding strength that

the brand embodies. The Italian touch in the design language is underlined by the sophisticated

interplay between smooth rounded elements and sharp squared ones. It characterizes the exclusive

e-hinge, the nose bridge and the ergonomic end tips. Each of these details serves both taste and

comfort. The anti-slip tips gently increase the grip of the temples. They also improve the fitting

together with the built-in minimalistic nose pads. The Light family boasts a characteristic riveted

construction that creates flexible and lightweight structures with ultra-thin fronts and temples, both

in metal or acetate. The entire collection follows a modular approach in order to guarantee top

service performance: the styles are built with standard interchangeable components, yet the design

aesthetics are kept at the highest level of excellence.

The Men’s Co l lec t ion .

The Safilo Men’s collection is characterized by a distinctive design blending classical and contemporary references in a modern context. It features a balanced repertoire of iconic and well-liked shapes reinterpreted with a sensitive aesthetics. All the frames have been given names that recall components and crafting techniques from the realm of Italian eyewear production: such as Calibro, Buratto, Registro... Hi-tech and handmade co-exist in a project that bridges yesterday with tomorrow.

A sensation of smoothness, both visual and tactile, flows from the rims to the end piece of the

front, and defines the tapered thickness of the temples, slims down the soft shape of the nose pads

(removable or built-in) and fills the unique curvy tips. The unmistakably feminine silhouettes express

Safilo’s techno-aesthetic comfort at its best, through a design approach in which light weights and

resistance coexist with a custom fit to the face. The selection of acetates, highlighted by a masterful

cutting process and painstaking polishing, contributes to the distinctive character of the collection.

The color palette ranges from the classic allure of vintage-inspired havanas to the essentiality

of must-have black frames. Color-block combinations, double-layered details pairing solid and

translucent acetates, mélange or tonal-gradient hues complete a palette inspired by a distinctive

taste. A consistent approach is applied in the decor of metal frames. A large repertoire of laser

milling and texturing techniques embellish the metal core of the temples, and design graphic effects

around the fronts enhance the refined galvanic finishing: from gold to silver, from almond to bronze

and ruthenium. Performance and aesthetics meet in the iconic e-hinge. Beside ensuring a lifetime

durability, the titanium cylinder that embeds the exclusive flex system, tapers harmoniously in the

round-section of the slender temples, creating an eye-catching color contrast with the palette of the

acetates, or enhancing a barely-there effect thanks to color-coordinated coatings.

The Women’s Co l lec t ion .

Embracing timeless elegance and superior wearing comfor t, an array of styles has been conceived to offer female customers a dedicated collection. Inspired by a contemporary urban lifestyle, Safilo’s minimalistic design highlights femininity by showing a distinctive blend of creativity with materials, expressive tonal combinations and an underlying technical focus. A thoughtful interplay of rounded profiles and lightweight details gives identity to well -balanced constructions.

The Registro models give full meaning to the lightness of titanium and glorify at the same time the

natural charm of the metal. The brand’s avant-craft approach takes a step forward with the ultra-

light Linea models where a single metal wire gives shape to the whole frame integrating a tubular

iconic hinge. Acetate is rediscovered as a resourceful element that can equal the slenderness of

titanium as in the Calibro family or master the artful combination of colors and hues of the Buratto

models. The repertoire of refined surface treatments extends to new palettes and effects, setting

Safilo frames apart for their unfading Italian charm.

The Fall Winter 2019 release.

As an architectural brand, Safilo places primary importance on fusing craftsmanship and aesthetic sense to create comfortable and beautiful glasses. The mechanism involves 6 components: a seamless cylindrical titanium body, 2 miniaturized

harmonic steel springs, a stem, and 2 anti-cam-out Teflon-coated screws. This new Safilo hinge is,

simply, a technologically unsurpassed solution that allows the temples to adapt to the unique shape

of every face, and to adjust the pressure smoothly, just like a made to measure garment should. The

design itself is both visually appealing and functional. All the elements are conceived to be easily

assembled and disassembled in a way that quickly allows any optician to repair or change the

parts on site. The diagonal cut of the tubular section of the structure is a distinctive trait that at the

same time enhances the flexibility of the temples.

The e -h inge.

The most iconic element of this collection is represented by the exclusive e-hinge that embodies the sum of the creativity and achievements gained in more than 40 years since the launch of the first Elasta hinge, a trademark of Safilo reliabili ty. I ts innovative double springs system takes the performance of flex hinges to the next level: 200.000 cycles against a market standard of 20-30.000. In other terms: 15 years of impeccable performance. An enduring engine for a timeless eyewear collection.

The lightness and slim proportions of titanium take Safilo’s techno-aesthetic approach to the next

level through the latest advancements in production technology. The almost invisible construction

of Lente fronts reinterprets the rimless concept. Designed to blend seamlessly with facial features

they allow a custom fit through a series of different lens sizes, adjustable temples and replaceable

nose pads. Special Teflon coated nuts hold the lenses without the need for an additional sheath,

reducing the risk of damage and creating a perfect floating appearance. Small, colored square

plastic inserts protect the lens from the contact with metal components and allow the customer to

personalize the design of the front with a hint of black, blue, red or crystal shade. The architectural

style of the full-rim Registro frames is counterbalanced by a nearly weightless fitting. Strong heritage

details, such as the spoiler reinforcing the browline of the iconic pantos shape or the single bridge

structure of Registro 03, are reinvented by a sleek design. The sophisticated color contrast between

the inside and the outside of the frames and the shiny silver, gold and bronze treatments confer the

allure of a perfect urban accessory.

The warmth of acetate meets the slenderness of titanium in an elegant combination that gives form

to these models. Four styles sport a titanium front with acetate temples, while four other styles show

the opposite order: acetate front and titanium temples. The titanium fronts are carved out of a single

sheet 4 mm thick, with no welding involved. This gives them a distinctive sculptural plasticity while

ensuring superior resistance and stability. The end piece screwed on the front assists in making the

substitution of the parts an easy job. The anti-slip tips together with the built-in minimalistic nose

pads gently increase the grip of the temples, improving the fitting.

Highly flexible stainless steel and alpaca alloy have been selected to give this family its light weight

and precision adjustment capability. Metal temples and fronts give a minimalistic flair to the design

but also an unbeatable resistance to scratches and damages. The colour palette ranges from the

original metallic grey to an elegant selection of tones that includes black, blue, brown and bronze.

The combination of the metal temples with acetate tips adds a contrasting flare to the design but

also the possibility to easily adapt the fitting. All styles include adjustable and interchangeable nose

pads in two sizes, that enhance the fitting of the frame on the nose.

The noblest materials of Italian eyewear craftsmanship are enhanced through rich combinations of

details. The Bussola family juxtaposes matte full-rim metal fronts - in black, blue and bronze tones -

with color coordinated acetate temples. Aletta models add a minimalist twist to a vintage inspired

style: a single browline enhances the top of the acetate fronts and continues on temples made of the

same material. A double rim characterizes the fronts of Sagoma models. The classic metal-framed

construction is embellished with a thin inner acetate sheath that echoes the colors of the temples.

An exquisite retro flavor is reinforced by the clip-on accessory with sun lenses available for select

models. The half-rim structure sports three models: Occhio reading frame is ergonomically designed

to integrate the nose bridge and the end pieces in a single solid metal element, while Filo 01 and

Filo 02 models blend the sharp tech look of the metal fronts with the warmth of the acetate temples.

Made from an extremely thin sheet of titanium (only 0.6mm thick), each pair is designed and

manufactured to maximize the natural properties of this material. Thanks to the recovery of a

traditional assembly technique with rivets, these ultra-light frames weighing only 9 grams boast

minimizing the thickness of the components without compromising the strength and durability of the

frame. These timeless silhouettes are refreshed by distinctive full acetate fronts with a clean, classic

shape and either embedded or interchangeable nose pads. The temples sport a silver-tone metal

core, finely engraved with a signature chequered motif, which can be either inserted by hand in a

translucent acetate or incorporated in a cast of Optyl. This second option exploits the outstanding

physical properties of this thermosetting plastic exclusively patented by Safilo. Low-weight, hypo-

allergenic and mechanically strong, Optyl offers both an unlimited potential in terms of three-

dimensional design and unique crystal color effects. The iconic semi-spherical rivets on the front

and the metal joints that embellish the end tips accent the style. All the models boast an ultra-light

3 rings hinge. The color offer ranges from the classic black and havanas to new, translucent colors,

The women’s collection with its softly rounded slim volumes explores a fresher chromatic style with

playful combinations of havanas and transparent colors, finely shaded nuances and color-block

effects achieved with a special gluing technique. Enhanced by an innovative front construction, the

design of the Cerchio models revolves around the geometrical figure of the circle: from the hexagon

with slightly rounded edges to the oval, as well as a soft-shaped square. The lenses are held by a

thin acetate colored sheath applied by hand to the main acetate rim, creating in this way a subtle

concentric graphic effect.

A thin steel wire (with a 0,7 mm diameter) fluidly designs each detail from rim to tip and - in

some models - becomes virtually invisible in the lower part of the front, where it gets even thinner

to disappear into the lens groove. Even the full rim models share the same virtually weightless

design approach. The rounded, edgeless forms fit to the face, imparting at the same time a vintage

inspiration marked by distinctive details such as double bridges and geometric cuts matched with

curved lines, appealing to both a masculine and feminine taste. The same linear, almost two-

dimensional, roundness forges the distinctive ultra-light hinge that is machined from solid steel,

molded and then milled to create a perfect connection between front and temple. The aesthetic is

reinforced by the ethereal choice of colors: the shiny or matte galvanic nuances from gold to rose

gold, from silver to gun metal, blue and brown are sometimes highlighted by a subtle line of enamel

in solid colors - burgundy, azure, grey, ivory… - hand-painted on the browlines. The transparent

ultra-thin tips preserve the integrity of the airy structure while assuring a comfortable fit.
