l Step 1: Purchase or pick-up your parking permit.

Parking Services is a division of the Public Safety Department and is located between Erickson and Pickerl Halls on 6th Street. Parking permits can be purchased online or in the office. Please note there is a $15 surcharge for all permits purchased in the office.

l Step 2: Pick-up your laptop.

Laptop Scholarship Recipients: Pick up your laptop in the John W. Moore Welcome Center on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Bring two forms of picture ID (your Sycamore ID and a driver’s license or other state ID). If you are under 18 years old you will need a parent or guardian to accompany you. For additional information visit http://indstate.edu/2014laptop.

Rental Laptops: Rent a laptop directly from Indiana State that will serve all your academic needs—and receive unlimited software support and award winning hardware support at no additional cost during the active warranty agreement. Rental prices are $100 per semester for used and $125 per semester for new with the option of renting for six consecutive semesters (3 years) and owning the rental. Rentals units are limited, especially used units, so reserve your laptop early!

If you have completed the reservation process and have been approved, rental laptop pick-up will take place in Stalker Hall, Room 009 starting August 15 during the following hours: Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

l Step 3: Purchase or pick-up your text books.

If you have pre-ordered your textbooks, you can visit the Barnes and Noble bookstore to pick up your books once you have received your email

confirmation stating your order is ready. When you come to the store, you will need to bring your student ID and go upstairs to the textbook department to get your box of books.

If you did not pre-order your textbooks, you just need to bring a printout of your class schedule to the bookstore. There will be employees in the textbook area to help you find the correct books for each class and answer any questions you might have.

l Step 4: Download the wireless printing network and print off your class schedule.

You will need your class schedule for Passport to College and Where are My Classes.

Be sure to stop by Stalker Hall, Room 102 where the Office of Information Technology (OIT) technicians will assist with all computing needs.

l Step 5: Meet your Academic Advisor.

Attend Get the Scoop to meet your University College academic advisor. Your advisor is a great resource to help you stay on the path to success.

l Step 6: Map out your classes.

Worried about not being able to find your classes? Don’t worry, just bring your schedule to the quad and Blue Team Leaders will help you locate your classes on Tuesday, August 19 at 6:00 p.m.

l Step 7: Participate in Sycamoreology 101.

This is your last chance to participate in Sycamoreology 101, the game that will help you learn how to navigate Blackboard course tool and explore important areas of the University through various media. Don’t forget we are giving away free prizes including money for textbooks!

l Step 8: Complete the Student Involvement Survey.

Begin by activating your ISU TreeHouse account via MyISU: http://isuportal.indstate.edu. Once in the TreeHouse, go to the Community Home news feed and complete the Summer Orientation New Student Involvement Survey.

step on the University seal. On the other side of the arch, President Bradley will be waiting to welcome and congratulate you on officially becoming a Sycamore!

6:00-10:00 p.m. Sycamore Sunday n (Wolf Field) Sycamore Sunday is a special Sunday evening for new Sycamores.

After marching through the arch, celebrate the beginning of your time at STATE, have fun, and meet new people. Free food, entertainment, t-shirts, and inflatables are just a few of the things being offered. Be sure to bring your student ID.

Topics include important immigration regulations, housing and dining services, health care, banking, transportation, student employment, safety, community engagement and student activities, and organizations. help…but didn’t? You’re not alone! This situation is more common than you might think, and is known as the bystander effect. That’s why we created the Step Up! Bystander Intervention Program. There will undoubtedly come a time when you are faced with a situation in which you can help—a friend, peer, teammate, or group member. Learn how to Step Up! and intervene by attending this training.

3:00-5:00 p.m. Fraternity and Sorority Life Carnival (Wolf Field) The Fraternity and Sorority Life Community invites you to join

them on Wolf Field for the Annual FSL Carnival. Each of the 26 fraternities and sororities will have a carnival-style booth set-up to play for prizes. There willl be food vendors giving away free food and information will be provided about becoming a member of the Fraternity & Sorority Life Community.
