ITALICS or “QUOTATION MARKS”?

• Underlining is the same as italicizing. However, only use underlining when you are handwriting an essay; never use it when you are typing on a computer. When typing, use italics instead of underlining.• Long works (novels, plays, epic poems) or titles of larger works

(magazines, newspapers, journals)

• Use “quotation marks” for smaller works or small “parts” of a larger work.• Short stories, poems, chapters of novels, articles in magazines or

newspapers
