    Beginning GuitarParent and Child

    Tis Fun Multigenerational class is designed for people who have allwayswanted to learn how to play the guitar in a fun family envirnoment.     CeramicsIn this Middle School class we will utilize our ceramics facility to the max.Sample of echniques from: the pottery wheel to hand-building to extruding,and even slab rolling to create reliefs and other exciteing sculpture and vessels.Fees cover the cost of your first bag of clay.     Shorin-Ryu-Karate This Class is conducted in a traditional dojo environment. Men and women, old and young, all train togetherwithout distinction. What an excellent activity to achieve good physical condition

    as well as gain an appreciation for the vulnerabilities as well as the beauty andcapabilities of the human body and mind. No experience necessary.

    Shorin-Ryu, Matsubayashi-Ryu Karate is rooted in the Okinawan art of “te”dating back several centuries. It is one of the original karate “styles” and theAmerican Shorin-Ryu Federation (ASF) has worked diligently to maintain itspurity since its introduction into the United States in the 1950s. All ASF dojos are non-commercial entities and

    do not participate in sports competitions.

    Instructor Jeff Violet, 5th degree Black Belt, ASF has been practicing over twenty ve years and is director ofNorthern California ASF dojos. He was previously the instructor at the Stanford Shorin-Ryu Karate dojo. Eachstudent needs a solid white Gi (uniform) and white b elt free of any color or markings. A “gi” can be providedat cost ($20). Testing for promotion occurs at the discretion of the instructor. Promotions reect the ability of

     Oaxacan Woodcarving

    The ability to create sculptures from paper is knownas “cartoneria” (cardboard sculpture). Cartoneriais a popular art form from Mexico that combinesa mixture of indigenous knowledge with Spaniardart techniques and is deeply rooted in ancientMexico’s legends. In this course, we will createfantastic mythological creatures from paper. We willincorporate diverse elements from creatures such asdemons, angels and/or dragons to create new andunique forms.
