Whether your goal is to take courses for personal or professional enrichment or to earn a degree or certificate from Washington University, we offer flexible, affordable options that allow you to pursue your goals at a world-class research institution.
Our open enrollment policy allows students to take evening undergraduate courses on a non-degree basis without submitting an application for admission, while our degree and certificate programs require an application and supporting documentation. Admission requirements vary by program; see the program pages online at ucollege.wustl.edu/programs for details.
There are two ways to enroll at University College: as a non-degree-seeking student or as a degree-seeking student. Explore the differences to see which option makes sense for your professional and educational goals.

NON-DEGREE STUDY DEGREE-SEEKING STUDY
• Courses may be taken for professional advancement, in preparation for application to a degree or certificate program, or for personal enrichment.
• Courses may be taken on a pass/fail, audit, or credit basis.
• Includes special enrollment types such as Visiting Undergraduate, Graduate-At-Large, and Special Audit.
• Not eligible for federal financial aid, scholarships, grants, or other funding sources.
• No application required.

• Courses are taken as part of a degree, certificate, or specialized program.
• Courses are taken for credit; pass/fail option available under certain circumstances.
• Courses are selected to fulfill specific degree requirements according to major or program of study.

Online registration: Online registration opens April 18, 2016. Visit acadinfo.wustl.edu/ucollege.
In-person registration: Visit the University College office, January Hall, room 20, to complete your registration. Students must pay in full (cash, check, credit card) or provide an approved alternate method of payment (financial aid, employer reimbursement, military benefit, WashU tuition benefit, or payroll deduction) prior to being registered.
Final registration deadline: September 13, 2016. For 8-week short courses: within 24 hours of the first class meeting.
Late registration: Registrations for full-semester courses after September 13, 2016 require instructor approval and are assessed a $50 late fee.

Exact tuition and fees are listed with each course. Register by September 13, 2016, to avoid a $50 late registration fee. Unpaid balances after September 13, 2016, may be assessed a late payment fee of at least $50 or 5% of the outstanding balance.
FINANCIAL AID
University College offers opportunities for financial assistance, including federal and state grants and loans, merit- and need-based scholarships, and employee tuition reimbursement.
Prior to registering, students must apply and be admitted to a select certificate or degree program, and they are required to complete a FAFSA, Evening School Profile, Award Letter Response Form, Master Promissory Note, and other financial aid documents.
In order to be eligible for financial assistance, undergraduate students must register for at least 6 units of coursework and graduate students must register for a minimum of 4.5 units of coursework each semester during the academic year. For the summer semester, undergraduate students must register for 6 units of coursework and graduate students must register for 3 units of course work in order to be eligible for financial assistance.
Financial aid applications frequently take eight or more weeks to process. Students should apply for financial aid as early as possible.

COMBINED BACHELOR’S/MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAM
The Combined Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree Program is designed for motivated, high-achieving students who wish to pursue rigorous and accelerated study. Upon completion, both a Bachelor of Science degree and either a Master of Arts or Master of Science degree are awarded through University College. The Undergraduate Honors Program offers high-achieving students the opportunity to join a learning community dedicated to an exceptionally rigorous, flexible, and independent program of study that takes advantage of courses and services across the university. The program includes academic and co-curricular activities that build on the experiences of adult learners, foster intellectual curiosity, and strengthen skills in critical thinking, reading, writing, and research. NONDEGREE STUDY AND VISITING STUDENTS
Students in good standing at other institutions are eligible to enroll at Washington University in day or evening classes as visiting students. Other individuals wishing to enroll in day division courses at Washington University for personal or professional growth are also eligible for unclassified study. Admission to unclassified study does not constitute or imply acceptance to a degree-granting division of the university. SPECIAL AUDIT OPTION FOR GREATER ACCESSIBILITY AND AFFORDABILITY
You may audit a wide selection of undergraduate courses in University College for $350. The Special Audit option makes it easier than ever to challenge yourself to high-quality continuing education at Washington University. Courses taken as Special Audit do not appear on a Washington University transcript, do not carry academic credit, and do not apply to degree requirements in a University College program of study. Courses available on the Special Audit basis are noted as SA in the course listings on pages 16-29.
To register for the Special Audit option, enter “SA” in the grade option box when you register online at acadinfo.wustl.edu/ucollege.
ACTRAC
ACTRAC is an accelerated study option available only to University College students. Qualified students receive one additional credit in a designated advanced-level course by completing additional reading, research, and writing. HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER SCHOLARS PROGRAM
The High School Summer Scholars Program, open to rising juniors and seniors, allows students to experience all the facets of college life. As a participant in this selective five-week program, students live on campus, enroll in courses, and study alongside undergraduates. Students choose from a broad range of courses as well as our one-unit, noncredit college success workshops. Students meet daily in academic support groups that develop students’ skills in time management, presentations, and research methods. In addition to course work, students enjoy a variety of educational, social, and cultural opportunities with fellow students from across the country and around the world. Scholarship assistance is available to students who demonstrate financial need.
HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER INSTITUTES
The noncredit High School Summer Institutes explore a specialized interest, career, or major. Institutes combine traditional class and lab curriculum with organized field trips, guest lectures, and hands-on activities. Themes include medicine, engineering, leadership, writing, and more. Space is limited, so students should consider applying early. Scholarship assistance is available to students who demonstrate financial need.
EducationUSA ACADEMY AT WashU
New for 2016! The EducationUSA Academy at WashU is a noncredit program for international students seeking to improve their English proficiency while learning about the American college experience. This three-week residential program is open to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Limited scholarship assistance is available to students who demonstrate financial need.
HIGH SCHOOL COLLEGE ACCESS
High School College Access allows juniors and seniors in high school to enroll in one or two introductory-level evening courses during the fall or spring semesters, and day or evening courses during the summer semester, while commuting from home. There are also a select number of online courses for students living both in St. Louis and outside of the St. Louis area.
MIDDLE SCHOOL SUMMER CHALLENGE
The Middle School Summer Challenge is designed to expand students’ critical thinking skills in a challenging and innovative environment that includes hands-on learning, field trips, and much more. Students choose two noncredit courses. Residential and commuter options are available. This program is open to rising seventh through ninth grade students. Scholarship assistance is available to students who demonstrate financial need.

Our Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Program enables qualified college graduates to take core and elective science and math courses that satisfy admission requirements for allopathic and osteopathic medicine, dentistry, podiatry, veterinary medicine, physical therapy, physician assistant, and other professional programs. The program is flexible to support students who need prerequisites, as well as those who have completed most or all of those prerequisites but need additional preparation.
LINKAGE PROGRAMS
A linkage is a special relationship between a post-baccalaureate premedical program and a medical school. Linkage arrangements can benefit students during the medical school application process in a variety of ways. Depending on the terms, qualified students may be guaranteed an interview or may be admitted through a streamlined process which saves the glide year.

POST-BACCALAUREATE PREMEDICAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should have a completed baccalaureate degree with a minimum 3.2 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), including at least one college-level English composition course with a grade of B or higher, and one college-level mathematics course with a grade of B or higher. AP credit that is reflected on a college transcript may be used to satisfy these prerequisites. Once your application and all supporting materials are submitted, the application review process begins. Application review takes four to six weeks.
