FAMILY WINTER WONDERLANDDECEMBER 18 • 6:30-8PMAT FRYCome and celebrate the holiday season with us as we hold our annual winter wonderland! $5M/$7NM.

After spending years in Physical Therapy for various joint injuries, I had very little muscle tone in my body. I was extremely frustrated with how I look and felt and how little I could do physically...so I came to the Y to inquire about Pilates Reformer. I was placed in a class where the trainer began very slowly with me, knowing my history and working with me to build strength in a safe way. When I began Reformer, I was only able to take 1 class a week, plus 1 low-impact Water Aerobics class. Just 6 months into my sessions, I was not only taking 2 Reformers classes a week, but was also doing Floor Pilates, Yoga, Water Aerobics, and even Muscle Flex. I have had issues with my joints since I was a teenager so have always been stopped in my tracks when it came to maintaining any sort of workout routine. For the first time since I was young, Pilates Reformer has helped me build the core strength foundation I need to keep my joints happy. Because of this, I am now in a variety of classes that are not only helping me look the way I want, but to feel strong, agile, and - most importantly for me - finally confident that my body will hold up for me. I am truly grateful. – Shannon

Literally millions of people have learned to swim through the YMCA's perfected program. In Y Swim Lessons participants learn and practice new swimming skills and feel a sense of achievement from mastering something new that they can enjoy the rest of their lives. Lessons begin at age 6 months and continue through adulthood. We offer group and private/semi-private lessons as well as specialty classes and swim team.

School Year Swim Lessons (Ages 3-12)Kroehler Family YMCA & Fry Family YMCA now offer our members "School Year Swim Lessons". This new way to sign up for swim lessons makes scheduling your child's activities easier! What this means is you sign up for the day and time of your choice and your spot is secured from Aug. 30 through May 28th. The staff will move your child through the levels as they advance. You no longer have to worry about securing their spot each session! If there is ever a time you need to change the day of the week or time of class you should notify Tracy (Kroehler) at [email protected] or Ellie & Jenna (Fry)at [email protected] and they will help arrange the change. In addition this makes YMCA swim lessons more affordable than ever! Instead of paying for a whole session in advance, (Sometimes 3 months of lessons!) you are billed monthly for your lessons.

Porpoise Swim Teams (Ages 5-18)Porpoise Fall Swim Team (Sept. 16 - mid March)

The Naperville YMCA Porpoises Swim Team is targeted to accept as many swimmers, from as wide a variety of competitive backgrounds, as space will permit. Our team includes first year swimmers directly from lessons, as well as National Qualifiers. Participants must have an active membership with the Naperville YMCA's. Porpoise Swim Team is for young athletes who want to compete, or learn to compete, and is not designed as an exercise program. Our fees are based on an "A' La Carte" menu, where you pick, and pay for, from a menu of days to which you will commit. As new swimmers progress, part of my job is to encourage a deeper commitment to practices, or suggesting a move up in group, to keep challenging the swimmers. We evaluate all new swimmers, prior to sign up, to help ensure proper placement in the various groups. Swimmers must practice with their assigned group. The Head Coach, and primary designer of the training program, has the goal in designing workouts to practice as correctly as possible, at the highest intensity appropriate for that group. Teaching and improving the skills of stroke, turns, finishes and dives is a part of every practice, at every level.

The Coaching Staff feels strongly that, apart from the life skills associated with competition and success, enjoying the process is necessary to keep kids in the sport so they may achieve both their goals and their potential. Porpoise Swim Team Starts September 15th and ends mid March. Sign up for RETURNING Porpoise Team Members and siblings opens July 5th, through the Kroehler front desk. New swimmer sign up event will be on Sunday, July 19th 3:30-5:30pm at Kroehler YMCA. All new swimmers must be evaluated before sign up. Please email Coach Bob to schedule your evaluation or visit our website at www.swimnapy.org for days & times evaluations will be offered.

Withdrawals from the Porpoise program after Sep. 15th will be prorated. No refunds will be made after Oct. 1st, without a documented medical excuse. All withdrawal requests must be made in writing via email to Coach Bob at [email protected].

Porpoise Fall Swim Team forms, schedules and fee information will be available at the front desk at the Kroehler Family YMCA after June 20th and will also be posted on the website at www.swimnapy.org.

All registration for swim team in done only at the Kroehler Family YMCA!

There is a $100 non-refundable registration fee that must be paid in full at the time of registration.

Thru loss of employment and financial hardship the YMCA has been a place of activity and enjoyment for my family. After losing my job I decided to go back to school, and without the YMCA preschool program and Parents Night Out passes at a reduced rate I would not have been successful at completing my degree. It really helped to know that my son was in the great hands of the YMCA staff. – Najah

Get Fit & Learn Self Defense!

Four years ago I weighed over 400 pounds. I was diabetic, had hypertension, high cholesterol and was using a walker because I had such difficulty walking. Today,I have lost over 200 pounds and I am no longer diabetic. Hypertension and high cholesterol are a part of my past. This would not have occurred without the generosity and help of the YMCA. – Rita

Y GUIDES

Y GUIDES AND PRINCESSESMost of us lead very busy lives and often wonder how to fit quality time in with our kids. This is where the Y-Guides and Princesses come in. It is a flexible program designed for dads and kids to spend quality time together. You will join a “tribe” of other families and friends from your neighborhood or school. Each tribe sets its own schedule and meets monthly for a brief ceremony, games, crafts, or even tribal field trips.

Federation wide special events are offered monthly to all program participants so that you can interact with other tribes.

Info Session: Friday 9/4, 6 p.m. - Join us for Y Guides & Princesses hospitality night at our Movies Under the Stars event. This FREE event takes place in Central Park behind the Kroehler YMCA. Representatives from a variety of tribes wil be there to answer your questions about the program and share why they love it!

At the Y we are more than a gym. We are a cause dedicated to building strong children, families and communities – inside and out. This includes making our programs available to all regardless of need – because at the Y, everyone belongs. You can help us in the cause. Change a life by making a gift to the YMCA. Because membership dues and program fees support our daily operations, your gift will go directly to serving children and families in need.

The impact of your gift will be felt when:

• A kindergartner starts school ready to learn because he attended the Y’s early learning center.

• Kids have a safe, nurturing environment to go to after school and in the summer.

• A child learns to swim – a critical life lesson for all.

• A family is able to spend quality time together while focusing on staying active and healthy.

• A child loses weight – and enjoys it–because at the Y, exercise is play.
