We are happy to report that this year’sAxiom ePDS User Summit, held onSeptember 23 and 24, was the mostsuccessful yet, doubling in size from the2009 gathering and filling the venue tomaximum capacity.

Over sixty users of the company’sElectronic Parts Distribution System(ePDS) came to White Plains NY to learnhow to use our turnkey software to itsfullest potential. For two full days theylearned not only from Axiom’sdevelopment and support teams, butalso from fellow users.

“Many clients use only a fraction of thepower of ePDS,” said Axiom Software’sPresident Jeffrey Yagoda in hiskeynote address. “They’re missing outon important features that are directlyapplicable to them.”

Engineered to help parts distributorsmanage practically all aspects of their

businesses, ePDS can be customizedextensively for the individual front- andback-office needs of a parts distributionbusiness. Because ePDS is so rich in

features, even its experienced “powerusers” might not be aware of all thatcan be gained from the software; thiswas a key factor in influencing users toattend.

We are pleased to welcome FusesUnlimited, a franchised distributorof fuses and circuit protectiondevices, to our growing list of clients.They have three distribution centerslocated in California, Texas and Ohioand represent Bussmann, Littelfuse,and Ferraz Shawmut products.

With business depressed like manyothers due to the economicdownturn, Fuses Unlimitedunderstood that the best time torebuild infrastructure is when salesare down. So, in March 2010 theywent live with ePDS, and now thatbusiness is bouncing back, the righttools are in place to handle theincreased workload without theneed to add any extra personnel.

Steve Hollopeter, President ofFuses Unlimited said “We looked atquite a few software houses whenwe decided to make a change. Wehad certain things we wantedcustomized in the system,particularly purchasing andinventory control features. Axiomhad a very attractive package foraccounting and sales functions andwere willing to customize thepurchasing module for us to a muchgreater extent than anyone else wehad spoken to.

They did everything they said theywere going to do, and we could notbe any happier with the results.”said Hollopeter.

Spotlight on:From time to timethroughout my life,I’ve ridden abicycle.

When I wasgrowing up inQueens, NY, a bike

was my primary mode of transportation,to a friend’s house, to the school yardto play stickball or to the pizzeria on73rd Avenue.

This past year, after my twenty-something year old son started riding hisbike to work, Brooklyn to Manhattan, Idecided it was time to get riding again.

So this summer, my wife and I boughtnew bikes and we have both been ridingthem 3 to 4 times a week. I’ve lost over15 pounds and gotten back in shape, andI feel great!

Just like in business, it’s so rewardingand satisfying to set a goal, make it apriority, stay focused and committed toit, and then enjoy the results.

In this fast-paced world we live in, I canthoroughly recommend it!

During a typical day using ePDS,hundreds, possibly thousands ofOrder Entry, Receiving, CashReceipts, and Voucher Entrytransactions could be processed.Usually, these processes areperformed without issue, but whathappens when an Order goes onLow GP Hold? Or goods are receivedin too early? Ora vendor invoiceis entered thatdoes not matchthe receipt?

Exceptions likethese ariseevery day andthe appropriatepeople must benotified so theycan be handledproperly and not cause a bottleneck.With the addition of Workflow AlertsePDS now provides the controls andalerts that inform the appropriatestaff member or members of theexception. Using the ePDSintegrated Instant Messagingsystem, when problems arise theappropriate individuals are notifiedso they can take immediate actionto resolve the issue.

Embedded throughout theapplication are trigger points thatautomatically send an instantmessage, or eMail to assignedpersonnel when an exceptionoccurs. They can be user specific,or determined by a person’s relationto the specific situation. Forexample, if a Purchase Order isreceived in too early, the person who

entered the Purchase Order can benotified.

Alerts sent via our IntegratedInstant Messaging system provideimmediate communication fromuser to user and are sent with linksto the appropriate documents. Thatway there is a complete history of

the transaction,including originalmessages and allresponses. eMailAlerts are bestused to notifypeople that arenot generallyconnected toePDS throughoutthe day, but haveaccess to theireMail via remote

connection or smart phone.

Our Integrated Instant Messagingsystem also provides a vehicle forusers to request permission tooverride certain situations. In thepast, a supervisor would need tophysically come to their desk andkey in a password. Now,supervisors receive such requests byinstant message and can simplyreply, granting or denyingpermission. Response is immediateand potential bottlenecks areavoided in the process.

In conclusion, Workflow Alertsprovide user-to-user, real-time,communication allowing you tomanage your business withouthaving to micro manage everyprocess.
