leaf collection service beginning

October 18, 2010 and a temporary collection site beginning November

6, 2010, for bulky items, landscaping and white goods. Detailed information can be

The City of Poquoson has received updated Federal Insurance Rating Maps from FEMA. There are no changes in the existing flood zone boundaries and/or designations; however, if you are interested in viewing a copy please contact the Planning/Inspection office at (757) 868-3035 to

schedule an appointment. The current maps were accepted for use in August of 1992. A digital copy of the updated map is available for public review on the

City’s webpage: www.poquoson-va.gov The City is also asking that should you have a copy of an elevation certificate for your structure

that we be given a copy of it. This will assist us in building a permanent record. This information is vital to the Community Rating System elevation process which offers a potential reduction in flood rates to any citizen with a NFIP backed flood insurance policy.

As always should you have questions related to flood vents, elevations, maps etc., please contact Planning /Inspection Department at City Hall.
