Descrizione

Kalymnos è una piccola isola greca che fa parte dell'arcipelago del Dodecaneso. Si trova a norddell'isola famosa di Kos, a pochi chilometri da Rodi e la costa turca di Bodrum. E lunga ca. 25 x 10km. In passato, l'isola era famosa per i suoi pescatori di spugne. Il turismo normale non è invasivo edanche l'arrampicata ha iniziato a venire qui solo dal 1998. I periodi migliori per venire qui sono laprimavera e l'autunno. L'estate è molto calda e la probabilità di venti molto forti e di lunga durata èpiuttosto elevato. Il clima è tiepido e secco durante tutto l'anno. giornate di pioggia sono alquanto raree limitate ai mesi invernali.

Grazie all'ottima qualità della sua roccia calcarea Kalymnos è divenuta una delle destinazioni piùrinomate e ricercate al mondo per la pratica del rock climbing.L'isola offre circa cinquanta pareti di arrampicata sportiva e oltre seicentocinquanta itinerari - diversiper caratteristiche e livello di difficoltà ma tuttavia estremamente sicuri, di facile accesso edecisamente ben segnalati.Non esiste una stagione particolare per praticare il climbing a Kalymnos in quanto l'isola gode di unclima mite tutto l'anno e la sua ospitalità è proverbiale; tuttavia sono particolarmente indicati autunnoe primavera.

Accesso

A partire dall'agosto 2006 Kalymnos è collegata ad Atene con voli giornalieri Olympic Airlines (un'oradi volo).

In alternativa è possibile volare da Atene sulla vicina Kos e quindi raggiungere Kalymnos con brevetraversata in traghetto (soli 20 minuti dal porto di Mastichari).

L'uomodi pietra, il nome è stato dato a causa di una strega grotta si trova sulla sinistra per la Pilar dellafalesia. (Rivolto verso sud-ovest). 50 metri alla vostra sinistra sitrovare 6 ulteriori itinerari. Seguire il segno sul "Upper Cave".

Seguire i segni rossi per 15 minuti, in primo luogo si incontra Kreissaal (neipressi di un antico muro), proseguire a piedi a sinistra per 10 minuti (verso sud gurdando la paretecon angoli ed il camino).

(Eccetto Abyss-grotta, senza Rouf) stessa partenza come dal pilastro Skalia. In direzione diemborios, 200m dopo Skalia, prendere la strada sterrata sulla destra fino in salita. Per la partesuperiore e verso una sorta di piccola chiesa, si avrà una vista panoramica sulla Turchia e le isolenord. Proseguendo verso il basso per circa 400m a tornanti prima grande, vedrete sulla sinistral'U-bay di sykati con la sua spiaggia solitaria. Lasciate che il vostro locomozione nei pressi dellarecinzione fattoria. Da quel luogo si tratta di 30/40min alla grotta-baratro. Guardando il mare, si trova,sulla sinistra (nord-ovest), tre vecchie case rimase al suo posto da l'ultima guerra. Raggiungere ilterzo uno. Hai ancora bisogno di attraversare due creste stando allo stesso livello e seguendo i puntirossi sulla strada sterrata. La discesa nel buco è fatto dalle labbra mare breve (20m 4a usando lacorda)

Dopo 50 metri si incontra un cancello.Dopo 50m ulteriori si vede il "Palace" a destra. Dopo altri 3min si arriva a "House Baby". (Sud, muro,a sbalzo).

From Myrties you take a small boat across to Telendos and follow the trial to St Konstantinos on theright side (north) of the island along the seaside. After the second beach you meet a sign "eros" andyou follow the blue spots for about 30min. When you meet the left turn for the monastery continuestraight followin the blue marks for another 15min.(East facing wall, overhanging)

Heading from Myrties to Panormos folowing the main road at the top of the hill just before taking theroad downwards to Panormos make a left turn where the sign for hotel Kamari is and foflow the bluemarks witch will lead you to a building under construction. Park there and continue on foot for 15minfollowing the blue marks. A gorge 15 -20m wide with routes on the west east and north face. (Slab,wall, overhanging).
